Many of you have been asking for advice on how to approach your child’s school about inappropriate school curriculum content etc.
Despite Irish parents having a fundamental constitutional role as the primary educators of their children, particularly in areas of moral & religious formation, many parents now perceive a growing disconnect between this role & the content delivered through compulsory elements of the school curriculum, especially SPHE, RSE, & Bí Cineálta.
The practical steps outlined in this guide aim to empower parents to address their concerns lawfully & constructively, while centring the child’s best interests.
The Guide covers parents’ legal rights, how to raise concerns with schools, & how to escalate beyond the Board of Management.
It is not legal advice and we recommend seeking legal advice where appropriate.
Please share with other parents you think would benefit from this Guide.

That racists and bigots use the vacuum following an attempted beheading on a street by a Sudanese migrant in Belfast is unsurprising. Perhaps if media and politicians addressed these issues rather than fear being called a bigot, there’d be less space for the real bigots to react.
Super report by Joan Cleary & Brendan Guilfoyle confirms the conversion of the institutes of technology into universities was an error. IoTs' vital role in vocational education & regional development risks being lost in this new model. Full report is here https://t.co/mciNFkvcCL.
"Charlie vs Garret is a compelling account of Irish politics through the lens of the two titans who were active through the turbulent decades of the 1970s and 1980s." New review of Charlie vs Garret in @dubreviewbooks https://t.co/rzIxh8PfMC
We welcome this wise and sympathetic tribute to Tomi Reichental by the Chief Rabbi of Ireland, Yoni Wieder.
His message offers moral clarity - Holocaust survivors are leaving us and we, the next generation must ensure that their stories remain alive.
Rabbi Wieder perfectly captures Tomi's unique quality of selflessness and a quiet determination to communicate his key message, the danger of using language that demonises a minority based on identity.
Good points but invoking NASA as a model doesn’t stack up. Decades of cancelled and delayed programmes upon which billions were spent. Constellation. Lunar Gateway. Extended timelines, budget overruns and levels of pork barrel politicking that make National Children Hospital project managers look like rocket scientists.
We are deeply saddened by the death today of Tomi Reichental.
Tomi’s family story is well known in Ireland and beyond. At the age of nine, he was deported from his home in Slovakia to Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in Germany, where he survived unimaginable hardship until liberation in 1945. Thirty-five members of his family were murdered in the Holocaust.
It was only at the age of 60 that Tomi broke his silence about his childhood experiences. As he often said, “It was not that I didn’t want to speak; I just couldn’t.”
From that moment on, he became a passionate educator on the Holocaust, visiting schools throughout the country and eventually speaking to more than 200,000 students. He also made three documentary films about his experiences and authored two books.
Everyone who met Tomi remarked on his ability to tell his story with honesty, dignity, and humanity. Through his testimony, he demonstrated how easily people can be othered and how entire communities can be demonised. His unwavering contribution to Holocaust education and interfaith relations will never be forgotten.
The Jewish community has lost a beloved son. Ireland has lost a cherished citizen.
On a personal note, Tomi’s friendship, support, and endorsement of the work of HAI, on whose advisory he sat, gave me the confidence and determination to pursue my mission of raising awareness of the Holocaust in Irish society. I will never forget his encouragement, generosity, and kindness. I am honoured to have known him and privileged to continue carrying forward his invaluable legacy.
We offer our heartfelt condolences to Tomi’s family at this difficult time and wish them long life.
May Tomi’s memory be a blessing.

Artificial intelligences do not undergo experiences, do not possess a body, do not feel joy or pain, do not mature through relationships, and do not know from within what love, work, friendship or responsibility mean. Nor do they have a moral conscience, since they do not judge good and evil, grasp the ultimate meaning of situations, or bear responsibility for consequences. They may imitate or even simulate, but they do not understand what they produce, for they lack the affective, relational, and spiritual perspective through which human beings grow in wisdom. #MagnificaHumanitas
🖥️ The new Artificial Intelligence policy at UC Berkeley School of Law, effective Summer 2026.
📝 Here is the main rule:
"The use of AI is prohibited for aid in conceptualizing, outlining, drafting, revising, translating, or editing any work submitted for credit. AI use is prohibited for any use for any purpose in any exam situation. Students may not upload course materials—including assignments, readings, slides, class recordings, or other class content—into generative AI systems. AI can be used for research on papers ONLY for the limited purpose of identifying sources, such as cases, statutes, or secondary sources."
Pope Leo XIV: "Among these ideologies, I consider particularly insidious the one that suggests that every person must earn or justify his or her own worth, to the point of attributing greater value to those who are more efficient or effective. From this perspective, persons end up being reduced to a means of achieving results, a resource to be used and exploited, and are no longer recognized as a proper end in themselves who should never be instrumentalized. The value of persons, however, does not depend on what they achieve or produce. There are rights that apply to everyone simply by virtue of being human, and no human power can legitimately deny or arbitrarily limit them." #MagnificaHumanitas
