We spent about $2,200 and got 1.5 million impressions.
The idea: put six women engineers through a full fashion shoot. Hair, makeup, stylist, the whole treatment. Nobody in architecture and engineering had ever done it.
But the fashion shoot wasn't what worked. At the luncheon where we pitched it, the CEO asked the women to tell their stories, and they were better than anything I'd have written. So we scrapped the plan and made it a video campaign instead.
The films that traveled furthest weren't the polished announcements. They were the ones with a real human sentence for a title. "I was told no 14 times." "My mom is an engineer."
People don't click a corporate holiday post. They click a person.
Use AI to strip the time out of the nonhuman parts of your business so you have more room to elevate the human part. Not to replace it. To free yourself to invest in it. As everything else gets generated into sameness, a true human story becomes the rarest thing a brand can offer.

Wrote the whole thing out, including the Hackman math on why the load grows exponentially and the two structures that actually pull it back: https://t.co/WIEUUGwm2D
Main post:
Your org chart says you manage 7 people.
You don't. You manage 7, plus the 3 accounts you never really handed off, plus the design reviews you still sit in, plus the 2 directors whose work you quietly redo, plus their whole teams, because the second you manage a director at the task level you inherit everyone under them.
Count it that way and it's not 7. It's closer to 40.
That gap between your org chart and what you're actually carrying is your shadow org. It's where culture quietly breaks. Not because anyone did anything wrong. Because you crossed a threshold you can't see, and the company pays for it in symptoms nobody traces back to the source. Decisions get relitigated. Your team stops fully owning things. Good people get tired in a way they can't explain.
The tell isn't in a report. It's in your next leadership meeting. Notice how much of it is you talking.
The more I talk, the less I say. Every point you make in that room is a decision you just pulled back onto yourself. The leaders who've actually let go of the shadow org are usually the quietest people in their own meeting. The talking isn't the leadership. The restraint is.

@GiveSentiment Yeah, I see in different social circles, people have to justify their political opinion based on who they are around. “I don’t like Trump… but…” same for both sides. It’s almost like we have been trained to protect our opinion for fear of being rejected.
@RyanHoliday@RyanHoliday just stumbled upon “Ego is the Enemy” through a Audible search and fuck bro. Your ability to slap the ego while embracing the true self at the same time through words is on point. Much respect 🙏🙏🙏
