[NEWS] The hottest deal in the car market today?
Used EVs.
In fact, they’ve been selling faster than used ICE for three months straight. (!)
Why? Used EVs are getting cheaper— a LOT cheaper.
Avg. used EV prices fell to $26,839 in Aug. – down 25% YoY.
That’s about 11% less than the average used ICE and 10% less than hybrids.
On top of that – the avg. used EV price is getting very close to reaching the tax credit eligibility threshold.
Consumers will be hard-pressed to find many deals that are better than that.
But for dealers dabbling in the used EV market – competitive pricing management will be the key to success.
The price of solar panels is going down.
The price of batteries is going down.
The price of EVs is going down.
The price of induction stoves is going down.
Economies of scale in action. ⚡️
In most parts of the country, charging an EV is equivalent to a gasoline price of $1 to $2 per gallon. The national average is $1.41 per eGallon, which is less than half the current gasoline price of $3.07 (as of Jan. 16, 2024) https://t.co/4oX4Z49ss5
Let's illustrate the problem with industry standard load calculations. A 🧵
I ran a standard Manual J and came up with 64,000 btus for a 2000 sf home in Minneapolis.
Looking at energy use, I came up with 25-30,000. Let's talk ramifications.
This is trouble.
JUST IN: US inflation was 3.7% (y/y) in August, a larger than expected increase from 3.2% in July. This underscores the challenges w/getting inflation down more.
Gas was the biggest factor accounting for over half the increase. Shelter (especially rent) also a big factor.
One year ago, @POTUS signed the most ambitious climate action in history. The Inflation Reduction Act put us on a path to reach our climate goals and sparked a clean energy boom in America — creating jobs and cutting costs for hardworking families.

“This is the most amazing thing we’ve seen in the United States for a very long time. It’s a Manufacturing Renaissance Act.”
Here’s how the Inflation Reduction Act is encouraging manufacturing to return to the U.S.: https://t.co/a47Y7LJDlu
“The rebate programs will save up to $1 billion a year in energy costs and support about 50,000 jobs in construction, manufacturing and other businesses…”
That’s our newest Home Rebate Energy program 😎 States & territories can apply now.

⚡NEWS: Applications are now open for states and territories to receive $8.5B to design their own Home Energy Rebate programs.
By investing in America, we're bringing households a step closer to saving nearly $1B annually in energy costs thanks to energy-efficient upgrades.
Wanna decarb homes fast? All one way ACs need to be two way heat pumps.
Nice @CanaryMediaInc article from @jeffsaintjohn today.
Seriously, there's no other way to 2050.

@energysmartwv I’ve been thinking that variable-speed is the solution to high SEER systems with poor dehum, but these are surely variable-speed and sounds like they even have a sort of dehum setting. Is there also an efficiency cutoff? Don’t go above a certain SEER without a whole-house dehum?
Good morning with good news: Kansas has moved from 100% fossil fuel electricity generation in November 2003 to just 16% in April 2023. Twenty years to clean up. Iowa was even lower at 13% in April. Generation in KS, IA & VT was more than 80% non-fossil fuel in April.
@ParrotheadPod I found you guys 4 years ago while I was becoming a full-blown Parrot Head. You helped me find my sound and my people, and helped me decide to make tropical music. I’m honored to have been part of your last show. THANK YOU! I’m already subscribed to the new one!
I write about my saga installing a climate-friendly heat pump water heater after my gas water heater suddenly failed and give some tips to alleviate the hassle, if not the cost.

@energysmartwv@Bob_Mayo@Electrifynow What are your thoughts on Mr Cool DIY? Besides the standard mini-split thoughts (bad filtration and no ventilation).
The internet is finally learning me and I get a lot of their ads on social.
