This is the same person in both photos, Mohamed El Nachef, who has just been appointed communications director for Raqqa province by the transitional government. El Nachef was a photojournalist with one of the rebel groups opposing Assad in Raqqa. When the city fell to ISIS, he joined the propaganda agency of the terrorist group Amaq. In 2016, his family claimed he had died in a coalition airstrike; a year later, he reappeared alive and well. In the photo taken at the roundabout, blurred behind him are the heads of seven people beheaded by ISIS in Raqqa.

Druses and HTS on the Hill?

Any "dialogue" between the Druse of Souaida and the HTS regime in Syria should take place in the open in the US Congress. The American people is not being updated and informed about the genocidal intentions of the jihadists in Syria towards suppressed communities.

Perhaps Secretary @SecRubio would sponsor a conference in DC to include the bipartisan foreign affairs committees in both houses, members of the Syrian regime "parliament" and representatives of the assembly of the Bashan region.

Only transparency in Syria and America can bring a serious conclusion and resolution to the conflict. Members of the Israeli Knesset can attend as observers.

The Druse and other communities' questions must be explained to the American taxpayers.
