But while we can keep blaming a large part of the nation for being uneducated in regards to financial responsibility, it’s better to acknowledge that the education loan system is not working like it used to.

Can you then acknowledge that people should be wary of private lenders for a reason and maybe that can be regulated?

We aren’t buying homes, getting married, or having children like we used to. Things can be better & it’s viable that there’s a fair solution.

I messed up in the pursuit of trying to do what I thought was the best thing for myself. Life does have consequences- but the consequences are disproportionate here.

However, it’s intolerable to think I could have avoided so much physical and mental distress had I not pursued higher education. I hope that can change & fair laws will be implemented to regulate lending.

@LovetheUSA73 @TWLadyGrey @Indiawaltonbflo You might want to check out my other conversations on this thread. I know that naïveté is what got me here; teenagers are, in fact, naïve. That’s the issue with predatory lending. I knew I would have to pay back my loans, but the obscene monthly amount was concealed from me.

I can’t afford to make less than I do now at a nonprofit. I’ll figure things out, but I’ve been pretty successfully cornered in that regard.

@Bird_Dog_703 @TWLadyGrey @Indiawaltonbflo Also, frankly- and I know now that this is untrue- when I was that age, the undertone of community college was that it was for lazy students with poor GPAs who could not get accepted at universities. Generally seen as a failure.

I did not willingly sign up for loans I knew I could not afford. Think- be reasonable. Innocence & ignorance got me here, not stupidity.

Do you really, truly think I should be punished & financially stripped indefinitely for making what I thought and was told was the best & most responsible decision as a young teenager? I’m not the only one. Love your people, hope for some relief.
