Making history at @BTP!
Hugely proud to welcome our very first part-time officer intake into BTP.
They proudly graduated today at Spring House, London. They will be out on the network in London keeping our communities safe in the coming days.

An honour to pay tribute to LNER Railway Policeman Robert W. Smith today. Robert lost his life in the York Air Raids 82 years ago. He was serving in York station’s post room and was one of 94 people killed by the air raids on 29 April 1942. He had served the railway for over 40 years.
98 year-old Normandy Veteran Ken Cooke led the laying of the wreaths on the new memorial to Robert, his wife Emily and daughter Elsie. We were also joined by the Lord Mayor of York, serving @BTP officers and other distinguished guests. https://t.co/AF7AleGeqP
Today we say farewell to PC Louise McCombes, who returns to @BTPScotland after a 3 year secondment to Probationer Training. PC McCombes has seen thousands of new recruits complete their initial training during her time at Tulliallan. We wish her all the best for the future. @BTP
New Year’s Honours 2024. Congratulations to D/Supt Gareth WILLIAMS (MBE), and S/Inspector Christopher JAMIESON (BEM), for services to Policing. #BTPHistory@BtpHistory@BTPolFed
@Miles_PBH @PaulMJLynch @BTP I imagine it'll be much less flexible than specials - I see this as little different to current arrangements for PT cops, except they can join PT now...will still need an approved rota that provides cover at peak times etc...unlikely to allow them to pick hours week by week.
@JJSharpers I suspect part of the issue is that she could instead have taken the much shorter trip to Stirling where the Chief Constable has the exclusive use of an apartment within the HQ, which is a Castle...and actual castle.
@west_response Wild.
Just to add context, in Aberdeen now the Council and Police both have 24/7 CCTV cover (police always had anyway), now located in a joint control room so that if a police camera doesn't catch something, council can check if they have.
Massive boost to investigations.
An excuse to buy a Class 37: next year is 40th anniversary of one of greatest rail TV ads of all time (“Train jam”) from 1984. Could ONE class 37 owner be up for a repaint with blue light? With @125Group that’d be a popular heritage railway Diesel Gala event pairing in 2024…🤔
