25 years.

I was a kid when I watched the towers fall.

I didn’t fully understand what I was watching that morning. None of us did.

But I knew it changed something in me.

Years later, I raised my right hand and became a United States Marine.

I went to Afghanistan twice.

I came home carrying things I didn’t leave with.

And some of the men I served beside never really made it home at all.

That’s the part of 9/11 that has stayed with me.

September 11th wasn’t just one terrible day 25 years ago. Its impact stretched across decades, across oceans, across generations, and into the homes of millions of American families.

Mine included.

Today I remember the 2,977 lives taken that morning.

The firefighters and police officers who ran toward something everyone else was running from.

The Americans who answered the call afterward.

The friends we buried.

And the families who have spent 25 years staring at an empty chair.

A quarter century has passed.

There are adults alive today who weren’t even born when the towers fell.

So remembering matters.

Tell your kids what happened.

Say their names.

Tell the stories.

Remember what this country lost.

Remember the people who ran toward the fire.

Remember the people who answered the call.

Remember the people who never came home.

25 years later, we still remember.

And we always will.
