The most interesting number in BUTT is how much TAO has reached holders.

At 08:01 UTC on 7 September, StonkFun reported 1,361.76 TAO distributed across 119,327 payouts. The accompanying dashboard capture shortly afterward valued the distributed TAO at $359,820 using the then-current TAO price.

Here is the mechanism behind those numbers.

BUTT has a 3% transfer tax. Collected fees fund distributions in TAO on Solana, with a separate deduction for distribution costs and operations.

Funds accumulate until a distribution is economical. At that snapshot, eligible wallets must hold at least $20 worth of BUTT. Each receives a proportional share based on its eligible holdings.

The allocation is straightforward:

Net TAO available × your share of eligible BUTT holdings = your payout.

For example, a 100 TAO net distribution and a 0.1% eligible share would mean 0.1 TAO. That illustrates allocation, not an earning rate. The available funds, eligible balances and timing all vary.

Once received, the TAO is a separate asset you can retain or sell. Retained TAO gains dollar value if its price rises and loses dollar value if it falls. Your overall result also depends on BUTT's price and the costs you paid.

The broader opportunity is discovery. A meme can introduce someone to TAO; receiving it can give them a reason to learn what Bittensor and its subnets actually do. Turning attention into lasting interest is something the community can build toward.

The model's durability depends on continued activity funding distributions after costs. Past payouts establish a track record; they do not establish a fixed future return.
