Seniors voted to gut Social Security.
Men voted for their wives and daughters to die from miscarriages.
Immigrants voted for deportation raids.
Poor people voted for tax cuts for billionaires.
Women voted to have fewer rights than men.
Police voted for a convicted felon.
I fear for American women, LGBTQ+ people, and minorities.
I also fear Canada is on a similar path, just a decade or so behind. We’re not the nice neighbours to the north anymore and the well-being of my teenaged daughters, despite all their privileges, will one day be at risk.
Another aspect of this election that is fucking terrifying to other countries is to see that open racism, white supremacy, and Nazi sympathizing are clearly not deal-breakers for US voters. Even the threat of enacting Nazi-like policies on an immigration population.
@JWEThompson I held out so much hope that the media polls were just saying it was close to keep people reading and clicking on stories - I keep reading about the Red Mirage but I just feel sick that it’s even a race.
I would say just as often they have an amazing partner who holds everything together so they can focus on their career and social life, while being a great and attentive Dad when there.
Sure was the case for me.
