🛑 Illegal Alien With Alleged 18th Street Gang Ties Flees Traffic Stop, Crashes, Pulls Knife in Rural Virginia 🛑

It started with an inspection sticker that expired in March 2024.

At 7:43 in the morning on October 15, a Page County Sheriff's Office deputy pulled over a Ford F-550 on US Highway 211 in Luray, Virginia.

ICE confirmed the driver was in the US illegally, had prior assault charges in Maryland and an alleged association with the 18th Street Gang, according to the sheriff's office.

When the deputy told him to get out, he took off. He crashed the truck near Whispering Hill Road, ran on foot and ended up in a standoff, where he displayed a knife.

He was taken into custody without further incident and is now held by ICE. His name has not been released.

18th Street is a violent transnational gang and longtime MS-13 rival whose leaders DOJ has sent to prison for racketeering.

Page County, under Sheriff Chad Cubbage, signed a 287(g) task force agreement with ICE in March.

Governor Spanberger rescinded Virginia's ICE cooperation order in January, and a new state law puts strict conditions on 287(g) agreements. A federal judge has blocked those limits for existing agreements like Page County's, for now.

Maryland, where his assault charges were filed, banned 287(g) outright in February.

Thank you to the deputies who stayed on him. An expired sticker should not be what it takes to find an alleged gang member in rural Virginia.
