A forever home for a beloved fire-survivor https://t.co/9tNzZNltml
Creating joy, ease, and comfort for someone a fellow wildfire survivor who is now living with cancer - please help him get back to the embrace of home 💜
@vickiorion@ayesharascoe @KendraWrites Love & a sincere wish that your recovery is coming along - it’s hard to explain to people who haven’t been through it the scope of the loss. Respect to you from a #CZU#wildfire survivor.
@ayesharascoe spoke with with Gimlet's @KendraWrites about how to prep for #evacuations - please speak with actual survivors of such to provide more useful information! I did the things you spoke about, and it wasn’t what I wish I’d known before a #wildfire destroyed my home.
@ayesharascoe @KendraWrites I appreciate you both bringing it to a forum for reflection. Surviving the brunt of the disaster is step one, recovering long-term is even more complicated. Transitional housing, insurance claims, whether & how to rebuild, & figuring out what “home” even means takes a huge toll.
@AJ_651 @ayesharascoe @KendraWrites Thank-you 💜 I am glad it was helpful, the way disasters unfold has so much variation & complexity. Surviving the acute part is also different from enduring the loss long-term - I am taking it one breath at a time 🙏🏽
@ayesharascoe @KendraWrites The fight/flight/flee/feign stress response will kick in & impair thinking. Wildfire friends all have “that was dumb of me” stories - plan before your brain is hijacked by stress hormones, learn & practice the box breath technique, make nervous system regulation a habit now. 4/4
@ayesharascoe @KendraWrites You need multiple plans - what to do if you have 15 minutes, 8 hours, 2 days - discuss w/ family when you will leave & under what conditions. When wildfire is approaching, it’s not the time to debate w/ your spouse whether or not to wait for the mandatory evacuation order. 3/4
@ayesharascoe @KendraWrites 1. I wish I’d made a list of items beyond a basic emergency “go bag” of things I’d be heartbroken if I lost - when I woke to the smell smoke, my father’s toolbox and the beloved sweater my friend gave me before she died were the last things on my mind. 1/4
@valyer7 @Jabra_US@jabrasupport If you can, return them & get your money back - @Jabra_US buries the fact that their pricey earbuds aren't meant to be compatible with laptops, which should be clear on all of their product pages. Am I being a bit of a bitter Buddhist? Big time, it's so dishonest.
@HopefullAmy @Jabra_US After 2.5 months of working great, pairing was rejected on my laptop - they only work with mobile devices. Instead of clearly making sure people know they don't work with laptops, Jabra buries this on the product page b/c they know it would hurt sales. Dishonest & scammy.
@DrPaulNassif & @DrDubrow, have you & the @BotchedTV team heard about this story? @pleasantgreen helped her, COVID travel restrictions have stopped her, she's lived her entire life with horrible pain that reconstructive plastic surgery could fix 💜
Check out how this African woman learned to draw on an iPad and ultimately create a book to fund her surgery and save her life. #itshallcometopass https://t.co/kQDYiT8KRx
@DrPaulNassif, can you & @DrDubrow get to Cameroon faster than #Chikaordery can get here? @pleasantgreen helped her raise 40K for surgery, can you help her get out of the excruciating daily pain she's living in? https://t.co/DE37EoBjyH
@ekam_advityam It's an association, not an identification; an efficient way to stay rooted in values & practices that facilitate more wagging & less barking ; a shorthand for staying rooted in & communicating commitment to the path; convinces others I spend most of my free time meditating ;)
Arriving on the one-year anniversary of losing everything to #wildfire & still sobered by how hard the process of recovering is. This level of innovation & heart gives me great hope for our ability to respond to this aspect of the #ClimateCrisis.
