The idea that Purdy shouldn’t win MVP because his supporting cast is too good is completely inane.
Jalen Hurts has the best offensive line in football, AJ Brown, Devonta Smith and Nick Sirianni.
This would explain Altman’s recent commentary around LLMs being insufficient to achieve AGI (despite having previously stated that OpenAI had achieved AGI internally.)
The board may have determined that GPT-5 licensing was not allowed under the charter (and Sam disagreed)
@JamesSurowiecki A team that pays Brock Purdy a QB’s non-rookie contract will not be a good team. That’s the determining factor. He’s a viable rookie contract QB with Shanahan and the best roster in the league.
@ItsBeardoWeirdo i hear you. i was especially struggling doing any sort of math/analysis which was a big part of my job. maybe the worst part was i felt no feelings. just numb depressive with bouts of anger for a while
@ItsBeardoWeirdo i started sort of in the middle of micro and a heavy trip dose because i was worried of how it’d affect me. i did a little more each time, something like half an 8th to a little more felt like the most beneficial amount. and it helped for weeks/months and then id do it again
@ItsBeardoWeirdo it took me about 20 months of thinking those exact things, but it did start to fade. now 3 years after being infected, i feel like i’m good at my job again. and i’m less frustrated with bursts of anger. hang in there man.
@Mr1738 Yeah i agree Giants would be the best spot that Richardson could end up. Daboll designs to his players strengths. But it sounds like they’re gonna spend on Daniel Jones
They exhibited the main tenets of effective altruism, philosopher dipshit. Route money out of “their” pockets and into “ours” and then pretend that we crunched the numbers (tm) and we’re doing something noble with it.
I want to make it utterly clear: if those involved deceived others and engaged in fraud (whether illegal or not) that may cost many thousands of people their savings, they entirely abandoned the principles of the effective altruism community.
@negrosubversive it’s crazy because even phone screens for the standard tech interview process requires this kind of aw shucks, im just really bought into the humble mission here… to drain all the oceans of their water, purify it, and sell it back to the hungriest and thirstiest at a fair price
I hope this experiment works and love that someone is taking advantage of an approach free market societies offer yet their critics rarely attempt: if you don't like how capital uses profits, start a business and use them however you see fit.

@DKThomp@willmacaskill longtermism is a triumph of theory over reality. it’s great theme music for ignoring present day suffering. it’s a framework for rich tech benefactors to reinvest in their own interests. sure, i’ll give it a read!
@dieter@FB_FilmAnalysis exactly this - a pattern recognition algorithm that takes text input on religion and spits out statements on “being” is not sentience. it’s an algorithm doing its task and accurately mimicking form of language (with no concept of meaning)
