Being inclusive and welcoming makes Kansas the vibrant, strong community it is. I hope all Kansans take time today to recognize #TransgenderVisibilityDay and reflect on how we can improve our state for all.
As horrible as this quote is, his full testimony is even worse. It is filled with homophobic remarks repeatedly referring to marriage as only being between a man and a woman. Shameful, but not surprising.
Rep. Mark Samsel, R-Wellsville, questions merits of criminalizing sexual battery between spouses: "I’m single, so I’m not the best person to speak to this. But when you do get married, what does that mean? And what implied consent are you giving?” #ksleg https://t.co/g5thxxpExe
The Kansas Senate is now debating a resolution that would declare President Trump’s COVID-19 response a “triumph of American ingenuity” and condemn Governor Kelly’s response.
The resolution doesn't have any powers. #ksleg
This is a petty, partisan action, and I wish I could say I was surprised, but I expect nothing more from the petty, partisans Republican hacks that were elected (and re-elected). Kansans deserve better than who they voted for. #ksleg
This would be funny if it wasn’t so scary. Someone who is making legislative decisions on science shouldn’t be this willfully ignorant. #sd23andme#ksleg
Olson giving a lengthy speech in support of Pyle's motion, arguing there are counties that don't need restrictions: "I wonder how many of the people who tested positive for COVID-19 really had the common cold" #ksleg
Last Jan I was in DC for a conference on making schools safe for all students. I was still in the early, exciting, pre-covid days of our campaign.
I won’t say our country is better than what we’ve seen today, history proves we aren’t. But we *can* and we *should* be. #dobetter
@staceyabrams I'm so excited to work with @Budetti4Kansas (SD 23) and @Knoell4KS (SD 9) to organize Olathe. As the only Democrat in the #ksleg Olathe delegation, I know our potential in JoCo rests in Olathe, because of Wendy and Stacey's work. Onward!
It's extremely disappointing at a time of such difficulty and immense challenge for so many Americans, we have politicians like Derek Schmidt and Jeff Colyer pushing false conspiracies that are divisive and damaging to our democracy. (1/2) #ksleg
At least 37 transgender or gender non-conforming people have been killed this year, making 2020 the most deadly year on record. This #TransDayOfRemembrance, we must honor their lives by taking action to end this epidemic of violence. https://t.co/b9CFMBEk43
