Jarmo Kekäläinen Presser Notes 📝
🔹 They wanted to re-sign Bowen Byram, but it wasn't going to happen
🔹 Byram "didn't want to negotiate"; he was not going to extend with Buffalo
🔹 Has told teams that they will listen on the 4th overall pick and see what other teams value it as
🔹 Thinks Louis Crevier has a lot of upside
🔹 They're not close with Alex Tuch, it appears he is moving onto Free Agency; "He's going to be missed"
🔹 They will look for a sign and trade to recoup some value
🔹 They'll evaluate all options to replace Tuch, but likes the internal options of Östlund, Helenius, & Kulich to help fill that void
🔹 Looking at players like Benson & Doan to grow as leaders fill the Tuch leadership void
🔹 Currently working on replacing Byram: "It's a focus"; brings up draft ammo they now have; they've had some "productive talks" with teams
🔹 Traded up from 27th overall to 20th overall because how their draft list shaped up; felt they could draft a player from a certain group at 20 as opposed to 27
🔹 Have had "great, productive" talks with Zach Benson; confident they'll get something done soon
🔹 Michael Kesselring was a mutual departure; but feels that the Sabres would've been more patient with him than Kesselring's camp
🔹 Talks are ongoing with Beck Malenstyn; they would like to keep him
🔹 Thinks the goaltending was strong this year, it's a scrutinized position; they have a lot of faith in the group, and the trio is onboard with the rotation
🔹 Have had couple of agents tell him that players have taken Buffalo off of their no-trade lists; "The Buffalo Sabres are becoming a destination"
🔹 Always goes with best player available at the draft
If Pekka Rinne is going into the HOF, Ryan Miller should be there next year
Both have a Vezina, and Miller’s performance in Vancouver en route to a silver medal was incredible. Was the Olympics MVP. 2nd most wins for US born goalie
Miller also with a Hobey Baker, and 2nd most career NCAA shutouts
John C. Reilly: “Why aren’t people on the right wing concerned about human rights? They’re human too. Elon Musk says don’t be fooled by the empathy trap. Empathy is not a trap, empathy is a superpower. It’s what makes human beings exceptional, our ability to look outside ourself”
I’m all for discussing why people like each sport but saying ‘Americans like constant excitement’ when describing a sport that runs for 3+ hours with about 11 minutes of play time shows a massive lack of understanding.
I can’t speak for the entire country, but I can speak for my own backyard.
My baseball-obsessed 7 year old hasn’t ever so much as touched a soccer ball in his life and now he’s spending his evenings out here pretending he’s Flo Balogun.
I don’t think it’s possible to overstate the impact this World Cup will have on this sport’s popularity in America.
Commercial advertising, product placements, and corporate-sponsored promotions are explicitly prohibited on national parklands. The White House lawn is a unit of the National Park System. It also violates standard Anti-Vending and Solicitation Laws as well as misuse of public funds and government endorsement ethics. Everything this administration does spits in the face of our laws. Everything is a grift.
Not to harp on it but its really funny to hear some people argue “hey it was a mixed reaction, it wasn’t all boos” and then you click on this and it’s just the deepest, from the gut, loudest boos you’ve ever heard. Like just objectively the most negative response from the crowd.
