This has got to be one of my favorite facts in Sabres history. In 1991 Dominik Hasek played a game for the Blackhawks in Buffalo and was scored on by...Rob Ray.
@BuffaloWins Hasek had no chance on both that tying goal and the OT winner from Game 6 but he had some serious WTF goals allowed throughout that series, topped off by the completely unredeemable series winner by Kasparitis.
@BuffaloWins I think there’s a case for the 2001 semis vs Pittsburgh too. Got outplayed by Johan Hedberg straight up. I’m always going to be bitter about that year. That was the best Sabres roster around Hasek, even with Peca holding out.

@zientara_kevin7@ZachSheldon Post lockout there was a huge emphasis to cut down on clutch and grab hockey aka hooking, slashing, holding. Huge reason why a smaller, speedy team like the Sabres emerged in 05-06. But by 07 playoffs officials were already letting way more things go. Benefited Ottawa big time.
@ZachSheldon To answer your question, that entire series the Senators bodied the Sabres physically. Post lockout rules had already been walked back and Ottawa was allowed to beat up/wear down the Sabres.
@DownGoesBrown if you need an example of why they needed the puck over the glass rule, may I present Darius Kasparitis doing it late in Game 7 of the 2001 playoffs before he went on to score the series-winning goal in OT. https://t.co/IZPBuXpd9q
@Ben_Mathewson Yes! It was sold in the Sabres store. They also made a doc on the first winter classic that’s on my channel as well. Thanks for watching!
Felt like a good time to share this little piece of history I found. A Sabres media round table from 1985 featuring Ted Darling, RJ, Jim Kelley, Jim Lorentz, Mike Robitaille and Ed Kilgore. https://t.co/u02ARjJ59H
