The Inner Light is a beautiful episode of television. I've cried watching it. One of my absolute favorite Star Trek episodes.
For people that haven't seen it, Picard is playing a flute in the art. He is NOT hitting the space vape for fat rips.
From the thing about Western fan-translations or mods violating the mutual respect expected between doujin culture and IP owners in Japan, the funniest things were:
🇺🇸:"You wouldn't play an untranslated game in English"
🇯🇵:"You wouldn't pirate Bethesda."
Reply:"YES I WOULD."
The alternate ending is the opposite, with Lionel gratefully offering you an advisory role in his ouster of the rebels. The big man is quite happy with you, the city folk still see you as a brilliant inventor, but the outlying areas are still being poisoned...
Even though it's not 'good', I think of Mina the Hollower having a bit of fun with an 'alternate ending'.
Canon end is very bitter with a little hope - just as predicted, the big city is in a panic when its power is unplugged, everyone hates Mina, but you saved the rebel leader.
The canon ending is infamously dark, your heroics only leading to suffering and hysteria because Lionel was too canny with his control of public perception, but it's implied that the truth can take root, society can rebuild, and the mutations can be cured.
The same way Millennial was a bit vague and slid around as just "entitled young people" before Zoomer caught on, Boomer is stretching into the first decade or so of Generation X. The word might remain a curse on the elderly forever.
Like, when a gen-alpha calls a 40-year-old ancient they know there's a gap between them and Mitch McConnell, but they GENUINELY don't realize a 60-year-old isn't a Boomer. They picked up us Millennials complaining about OUR "two generations older," Boomers.
You, silly: Gen Z doesn't know what 'millennial' is
Me, smart: 'boomer' has been a generic word for old that people don't realize how old the actual Baby Boom generation is; gen Z unironically calls Gen X boomers
I was gonna make a joke saying “did you know it’s called ramping because of the mtg card called rampant growth” and then googled it and realized it was actually true
Love to see half the right going "the DEMOCRATS were against integration here so WE made sure there was equality" and half of them going "BIG GOVERNMENT sicced the ARMY on us HONEST SOUTHERERS to FORCE Blacks into OUR schools"
Is the South still upholding the confederacy or not?
@coL_Amazonian I've recently learned from a comics YT channel that Lykos is a *hypnotherapist* and the actual "turning people into dinosaurs" was something he was just kinda... helping Stegron do? And taking the credit for being the brains of the operation in that panel, which is even funnier
