Wondering what #PintOfScience is? It's a festival for scientists and researchers to share with the world what they are working on in a fun and relaxing environment.
So loads of 🍺🍺 to wash down heavy science topics
@Zone01Kisumu@pintofscienceKE Quite an eyeopener by George Hanta, Research at @wrair Africa.
His presentation - HERALDD - attempts to make sense of the peculiar Kenyan behavior of self-diagnosis and over reliance on over the counter pharmacy drugs.
Today marked the official onboarding of our #piscine12 candidates. They are in, ready, and they are set to dive into the challenge on Monday.
The Piscine is intense, designed to push limits, test resilience, and unlock potential.
This is what #BuildFromHere2026 was meant to do. Expert-led knowledge rooms full of industry thought leaders sharing their work.

One of the most sought-after sessions at #BuildFromHere2026 were the Parallel Technical Sessions. Think quick masterclasses. Two rooms running concurrently. Attendees chose their track and honestly, they couldn't choose wrong.
Track B, "DevSecOps Talent Pipeline for the Digital Transformation Era" was facilitated by David Njogu, Ph.D. His message was clear
"Security is not a final step. It has to be baked into the build pipeline from day one."
#BuildFromHere 2026 has officially come to a close but the teachings, which we will continue sharing across the coming days, will stay with us forever. Here's a recap of one of the most important days in Kenya's tech industry.
We wrap up today filled with gratitude. After two years of intense, hands-on learning, problem-solving, and growth, our apprentices have stepped forward to receive their certificates, and our blessings, marking the end of @Zone01Kisumu Cohort 1

At the heart of this year’s conference was a most significant milestone - we have graduated 76 apprentices, with 71 of them placed in jobs!
(The remaining six are soon joining the job market🤞)

#BuildFromHere2026's first ever Keynote speaker is @JessicaColaço, Co-Founder @iHub and Brave. Her keynote stresses the fact that infrastructure is catching up, and programmes like @Zone01Kisumu are proof that you don't have to relocate to reach your potential.
@LakeHub
Our second keynote @NdigaJn has just shifted #BuilFromHere2026 conference with a hard hitting reality check!
“In 2026, the average tech stack has a "half-life" of under 3 years. The tools you mastered yesterday are being phased out today.”

Andrew Osindo, Kennedy Ada, Asman Malika, and Tomlee Abila proudly showcased their projects to H.E. Dr. Mathew Owili, the DG, Kisumu County. These bold, functioning solutions built by @Zone01Kisumu apprentices speak to the challenges facing Kisumu County.
#BuildFromHere2026
@LakeHub For over a decade, @LakeHub has been building systems that develop highly skilled tech talent in Kisumu.
Today is proof that building such systems inevitably leads to success.
