Today we're launching Iris, the financial network telecom operators plug into to earn on what they already own.
Operators built the roads the digital economy runs on. Everyone else got rich building the city on top. From 2012 through 2025, traffic on operator networks grew more than 50% a year. Operator revenue grew about 1%. The companies on top took the difference.
Operators own what those companies pay dearly for: distribution, the billing relationship, daily engagement. And money already runs through all of it, in subscriber payments, top-ups, advertising and settlement.
Iris sits underneath all of it. Same business, new revenue, settled in dollars. Iris runs the rails. The operator keeps the economics.
VIVA, a licensed carrier in Bolivia, is the first operator live on Iris. Real transactions, settled in USDi, operating reserves held in dollars.
Until now, operators built everything and kept almost none of the value. Now they build almost nothing and keep almost all of it.
Iris is the financial network built for telecom operators.
The basic idea is simple: operators already own valuable infrastructure, customer relationships, billing, identity, and distribution.
Iris gives them new ways to earn from the network they built.
Iris is bringing real SIM-verified users onchain, not anonymous wallets. That starts with three million subscribers from @vivabo.

Telecom operators are very serious businesses. We needed a chain that was built for business, and @avax worked extremely well for us.

"What Iris allows the telecom operators to do is take back that growth and build it themselves. They built the roads, and now they can build the cities on top that others are building."

Happy Thursday, live from Avax Summit Day 2.
HUGE morning for tokenization enjoyers! The SEC just approved a temporary exemption to allow tokenized stocks to trade onchain.
The Innovation Exemption is real, and it lands right in the middle of one of the biggest tokenization event of the year.
The rumor mill nailed it.
On top of that, the Fed hiked, and the market went green anyway. The exact "bullish hike" everyone was memeing last week actually played out.
Which is the perfect backdrop for today, because we've got Kevin O'Leary joining us for the first time.
He's arriving at the exact moment that real money looks like it's finally moving onchain.
We get into what he's actually allocating to now.
Great show today.

Excited to share that my new company, Iris, is coming out of stealth today with $43M in committed funding and our first telecom operator live on-chain. 🎉
“This is about delivering value to our subscribers too. To us, that’s just good business… when you find ways to do good things for your customers, they pay it back in spades with their loyalty."
-@ryanj_alvarez, CEO of @vivabo
“This is about taking a network that was built primarily for connectivity and transforming it to something that can deliver value through data.”
-@RakutenSymphony CRO Udai Kanukolanu
“GSMA says the impact of mobile connectivity is going to add $11 trillion to global GDP by 2030.
That starts today with the launch of Iris.”
-@julesemiller at @avax Summit NYC
Enterprises don't use Agora as a point solution, Agora enables them to build entire platforms. @BuildOnIris is using Agora infra for stablecoin issuance and wallet operations for telcos on the network, starting with VIVA in Bolivia and Mexico. https://t.co/cvSnox8eDk
BREAKING: Iris has raised over $40M to expand ALVA’s onchain financial services on Avalanche.
Iris is an Avalanche L1 supporting ALVA, a mobile app where users browse, stream, shop, message, and pay bills without using their mobile data allowance.
ALVA is already live through VIVA in Bolivia, which serves 3M+ mobile subscribers, and has signed agreements with operators representing 60M+ subscribers across six countries.
Everyday people, everyday apps, all built on Avalanche.
