HPC fundamentals have always worked this way. It seems novel or counterintuitive only in the context of the last decade of hyper scale cloud vendors who had insane margins on compute because their customers were all I/O bound.

@KaiXCreator Friend has shipped 4 in a narrow niche he has expertise in. They seem to be gaining traction with users. It’s a small niche though. TAM is tiny. He just did it for love of the game.
If BP/Exxon wanted new near term capital (probably not on the radar in this oil market) they could absolutely monetize stranded gas into dedicated GW to new datacenters. It would just have to be in weird remote places.
