Mitchell: Implementation of [these topics] is important... We need to bring an attitude of "we need to do this or we will fail"... Talk to your friends about the elections... you can do same-day registration (with hardcopy of ID)
Valera: I am running on a "yes" platform... I welcome the Jay Street project (subsidize housing). Yes for diversity. Yes for students. Yes in my backyard.
McCullough: The real question of the voters is "who is prepared to make [these exciting ideas] happen?"... Ideas are not a substitute for implementation... if you don't do it right, you can mess it up more... I have 20 years of experience in EPA/[other environmental agencies]
Ryan: Do planning!! ... [planning] takes patience ... and money.. I have been working on this a long time, and give it out to Jess [for breakthroughs in planning]... we can be an exciting place [for everybody]... Affordable housing is important
Anderson: the DTh continues to bring amazing journalism [and is professional journalism]... Complete Community is an exciting plan... we need a leader [with a forward vision that can work with others].. I'm endorsed by [various leaders].. I work with/for everyone.
Soll: Please check my website... look around and see what's happening: is this the way we wanna go? We can have it all (affordable housing, green space, connection)
Sharp: there are a lot of people nervous about growth ... but growth is a good thing ... we're nervous about small businesses turning into chains, farms becoming housing... [growth should be sustainable and accessible]
Adams: think for yourself... don't rely on blogs or the Daily Tar Heel... I wrote a piece called "Who Owns the Housing Problem in CH" ... I like to interact with you, I can meet for coffee, Purple Bowl, etc
Eckhardt: I do not give you fiction, I give you facts ... go to my website and contact me to talk about issues. I would like to build a town app to do real time polling, etc
Eckhardt: [Blue Hill was] laissez-faire... I don't see current council fighting for us... where are the rooftop gardens? the solar panels? UNC owns 30% of the land... [why aren't they at the table]... [preserve Historical District]... I am for green growth and smart growth...
Adams: Please observe what's actually going on.. we have a CC project... I am a fan of mixed development ... [on CH Crossings: ] the final plan has very little commercial/green space.. the good thing of CC is work with neighbors... please expand knowledge out of Daily Tar Heel
Sharp: [Our vision for texture diverse communities requires small businesses like mine]... businesses want environments that encourage experience... [CH] is not a dynamic place for ambitious businesses... new development should be in context of current architecture
Soll: I can't dictate how big of a house people have ... I think density in some areas makes sense (ex: downtown)... we need to make it a walkable and livable community
Anderson: CC strategy calls for greenways... [it should be so easy to choose a greenway that people don't drive cars]... CC dictates that a certain amount of housing development is affordable ... we know that everyone should be able to get to these things easily
Ryan: Jess and I got into this business [b/c of the BlueHeel plan]... our important choices are in economic development... we have said [parking space developers] need to do better ... I like the idea of incremental development.
McCullough: *Seconds everything said before*... we want to make it more friendly for incremental developers to buy... we want streetscapes that are heavily tree'd.... 2/3rds of our population is 1-2 households... focus on affordable housing
Valera: [Need] transit-oriented design...we need to live closer/become better neighbors. We need spaces where we don't have to spend money, but we can just be.
