Honored to address the U.S. @HelsinkiComm once again. With 🇺🇦 Ombudsman Dmytro @lubinetzs and Ukraine’s Ambassador to the U.S., @OMarkarova, we outlined the grave violations of human rights committed by Russia: the unlawful transfer and deportation of Ukrainian children and illegal detention, torture, and ill-treatment of Ukrainian civilians.

What’s particularly important is that the participants could hear the firsthand accounts of the children who were rescued from Russian custody and the video testimony of a civilian who had been detained and tortured by the Russian military.

The discussion also touched upon the new legislation to help impose sanctions to combat the mass abduction of Ukrainian children by Russia—Oleksander Ivanov Act. The bill honors the memory of a teenager killed by the Russian military in Kyiv Region in the first days of the full-scale invasion.

I’m deeply grateful to our U.S. friends and allies for standing with us in our battle against the aggressor and our fight for justice. And I hope that this crucial and timely bill will garner the necessary support in Congress.

January 2, 2024. Another attack by Russian savages. Almost a hundred missiles of various types. At least 70 missiles were shot down. Nearly 60 of them were intercepted in the Kyiv area. There were also severe strikes on Kharkiv. Work is now being done to eliminate the consequences.

Patriot, IRIS-T, and NASAMS—each of these systems has already saved hundreds of lives. Russia will be held accountable for every life lost.
