I’ve heard of patients who stopped being gay and gender dysphoric after doing a detox from parasites, other pathogens and toxins. This post suggests it’s the parasites hijacking the brain. Just missing a meal can change the way you behave especially if you’re insulin resistant. It’s been well documented that common over the counter painkillers reduce empathy and there are many other drugs that can affect people’s personalities dramatically. But there is something deeper, the very heart of your being that lies beyond these superficialities. Scrape them away and you will find that your deepest self loves what is good, which is another way of saying that which is beneficial for human flourishing over the longest time horizon - both in this world and the next.
