This announcement by Secretary of State (Labour) @JZerucelli is a huge win for apprentices and the skilled trades.
This funding from the Government of Canada will help union training centres train more workers, faster, for the major projects Canada needs to build. 🛠️
Canada needs skilled workers to build homes, infrastructure and major projects.
Today, at Ironworkers Local 765 in Ottawa, I announced more than $430 million over five years through the Union Training and Innovation Program to:
✅ Expand and modernize union training centres through brick and mortar
✅ Back new ways to recruit and train apprentices
✅ Buy modern equipment, with the federal share raised from 50% to 70%
More training. More apprentices. More workers ready to build Canada strong.
The BTA is proud to partner with @TEPFoundationAB! Their incredible team works tirelessly alongside Alberta's Building Trades Unions to equip students with the skills to pursue careers in the trades at union-led training centres.
Thank you for all you do! 🍎

It was great to visit UA Local 496 training centre in Calgary. The skilled trades are the bridge between ambition and opportunity. When training connects to real jobs, workers build their futures and our economy grows stronger.
I also had the opportunity to try first hand some of the machinery in the training centre, to see firsthand the skill and precision the work demands.
