Developing Business Models for Neighbourhood based Flying Factories for Local Off Site Construction

[Built InCommon @BuiltIncommon]

Built InCommon is a Royal Commission 1851 Fellowship to investigate how localised digital design&fabrication can enable affordable housing.

@TomSutcliffe please note

[Irena Bauman @IrenaBauman]

@bbcRadio4 #Starttheweek on @capitalism not allowing fair air time for the most articulate and informative guest @KateRaworth privileging instead the other (male) guests. She was of course also denied the last word. Shameful.

[Built InCommon @BuiltIncommon]

@KateRaworth @ClimateActLeeds @OpenInnovates @DoughnutEcon @ClimateActLeeds & #leedsdoughnut can also build on work exploring the #commons by @rurban_ @creativecommons @IncEdNetwork @WeCanMakeHomes @leedscitylab @globalcommonshq @InstitutOstrom @BaumanUoL @transitiontowns @cittaslow_intl and @CittaslowUK and lots more

@community_land Well done ! Lovely scheme

[Built InCommon @BuiltIncommon]

@kerryHarker so good to see this in print. Big thanks to all who contributed to the knowledge and especially @Royalcom1851 who made the research possible and @FloraSamual for all her support

[Dr Kerry Harker @KerryHarker]

Really excited to receive new issue of #ArchitecturalDesign magazine focusing on #socialvalue with chapter co-authored by @IrenaBauman and me focusing on @leeds_east’s #EastLeedsPavilion and @MassBespoke construction system. Brilliant coverage for #Gipton #EastLeeds

[Irena Bauman @IrenaBauman]

Thank you #EastLeedsPavilion for all your supoort and interest. It makes all the difference in the long process of R&D. We are so grateful to you @innovateuk @WeCanMakeHomes @CVCLT1 @LeedsCommHomes @MuseumofMaking @SYHA @CanopyHousing who helped us so much along the way

[Irena Bauman @IrenaBauman]

Open site on Tuesday 7th of July 12.30-14.30 at Park Road, Doncaster DN12QH to see the first affordable development in @massbespoke before it is all covered up. Great moment for @DCDT @baumanlyons @BuiltIncommon and @CommLedHousing

[Built InCommon @BuiltIncommon]

#BuildbackBetter with #massbespoke and @BuiltInCommon approach utilising new #localised digital fabrication methods to enable more #affordable #housing by #communitedhousing. Come and see prototyping for @DCDT in Doncaster

[Calder Valley CLT @CVCLT1]

Congratulations Karen

[Built InCommon @BuiltIncommon]

Excellent explainer @CommLedHousing. View also a companion explainer of how to replace private profit made on #affordablehousing construction with #socialvalue through @CommLedHousing taking control of the construction process https://t.co/PzxkPzI03e. We need innovation here too

Thank @mirandaplowden for a Great report by #syha on early prototype of @wikihouse. Good learning for other disruptive digital systems #UBuild @massbespoke and for other pioneers @WeCanMakeHomes @leeds_east @kboroclt @LeedsCommHomes @CVCLT1 @ParticipatoryC

[Built InCommon @BuiltIncommon]

Our first @BuiltIncommon project with fabrication partners Blok Build.@chopshopcnc @buildingbloqs @kwmcthefactory @ParticipatoryC @leeds_east would also like to talk with you about potential for distribute fabrication in your maker spaces !

[MassBespoke @MassBespoke]

Exiting production starting on our first #affordable flats for @CommLedHousing for DCDT in #Doncaster 230 MassBespoke cassettes being cut. Come and visit @leeds_east @WeCanMakeHomes @LeedsCommHomes @Eco_motive @ArupGroup @EcologyBS @CVCLT1 @kboroclt @peoplesbiz

[Built InCommon @BuiltIncommon]

Exciting progress @wecanmakehomes- beginning of network of #communityowned #factories that can enable #communityledhomes using #digital construction systems such as @WikiHouse @blokbuild https://t.co/PXoTg5OjoN and @Ubuild_UK

[KWMC: The Factory @kwmcthefactory]

Just a few days left to apply for our exciting new Factory Producer role.

We’re looking for someone who is proactive and organised, who will be responsible for the day to day running of our workshop and manufacturing space @kwmcthefactory and supporting… https://t.co/j6gUjs3ctG

[Built InCommon @BuiltIncommon]

Watch out for the distributed fabrication network of small local fabrication workshop @WeCanMakeHomes @massbespoke and https://t.co/hCmMpBhN6J which will disrupt the unsustainable large off - site factory model

[Irena Bauman @IrenaBauman]

Room full of very knowledgable people grappling with big housing challenges #GoodPlaceLeeds. There were some radical ideas but less appetite for taking risks. But we need to take risks to change direction of travel Thanks @TVRadioPeg for keeping us all going

[Irena Bauman @IrenaBauman]

#goodplacesleeds promised to discuss innovation. So let’s talk about ideas- we know the problems. We could empower communities to build themselves through a network of @BuiltIncommon micro factories to deliver a great deal of @socialvalue. We doing it in Doncaster &Bristol

[Irena Bauman @IrenaBauman]

What a great turn out for #goodplacesleeds! Looking forward to discussing @BuiltIncommon and the power of distributed fabrication to put tools back into the hands of @communityleddev

[Built InCommon @BuiltIncommon]

Great to see #BuiltInCommon explainer exhibited in #degrowth #oat19 #architecturetrienale in #Oslo with so many ideas about #neweconomy from #architects @baumanlyons and other #architects

[Knaresborough CLT @kboroclt]

This is exactly what community-led housing in Knaresborough looks like. Thank you @steve_hoey @LeedsCommHomes, @IrenaBauman and well done to our committed KCLT board for their efforts to make affordable housing in Knaresborough a reality!
