I was very fortunate to meet and draw inspiration from the American civil rights icon, Reverend Jesse Jackson, who sadly passed on today.

In word and deed, Jesse Jackson taught us that the struggle for human rights is a universal calling to humanity as a whole. He also taught us that ordinary people, when organized and courageous, can successfully confront and topple or force to reform entrenched systems of injustice.

For us in Uganda who continue to fight for our basic human rights, his life serves as a timely reminder that moral courage will always outlive oppression. Despite facing hostility and imprisonment, he never abandoned his belief in the power of the people.

At a time when many young people are questioning whether peaceful struggle can truly cause change, Jesse Jackson’s legacy answers with a firm YES. But that is only if we persist, if we unite, if we believe, and if we refuse to give up even in the face of impossible odds.

May his soul rest in eternal peace. And may his example strengthen our struggle for a New Uganda where justice is a right, not a privilege.

Adding your voices to those of the millions of oppressed people in Uganda reassures us that the world is watching and that eventually, there will be accountability for the crimes committed against the people of Uganda.

While the criminal regime continues to haunt my family and hunt me down, I took off time to read this very insightful book. Above all, it exposes Museveni for who he is and the damage he has done to our country, despite having come with the promise to break away from the past.

As Prof. Mamdani notes in this book, “The Museveni era has corroded the morals of an entire generation, and there is unlikely to be an easy solution to the problem. A pervasive corruption and cynicism cloud the country like a fog. It will take no less than a generation for the country to come out of it."

A depressing account it is. We have work cut out for us. We refuse to give up or give in. UGANDA WILL BE FREE.

I condemn in the strongest terms the violent attack on the home of Barbara Itungo, the brutal assault on her, her staff, and the continued persecution of the family of @HEBobiwine.

A violent, militarised election can never reflect the will of the people. Kidnaps, abductions, killings, leaders forced into hiding—and nearly 10 days on, the internet still deliberately crippled.

This is state terror, not democracy. This is not the peaceful country we fought to have.

Here is a picture of my wife shared by Museveni’s son and head of our nation's military, Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

When soldiers on his orders raided our home, they made her to sit down, put her on gunpoint to reveal her phone passwords and my whereabouts, assaulted her, and eventually tore her nightdress shirt while filming. It was only after her blood pressure rose, and she became unconscious that these thugs left her, before she was rushed to hospital.

Like she narrated, these criminals were filming everything and definitely sending them to their deranged boss!

Barbie is strong and appreciates all of you who have reached out with messages of strength and solidarity, as she tries to recover from the trauma.

Indeed, when she swore for better for worse, she never imagined these thugs placing their filthy hands on her. But it happened, and she took it with grace. She courageously confronted the criminals and refused to surrender despite the violence.

Meanwhile, our home remains occupied by the military as they try to hunt me down.
No one is allowed to access my home, not even family members trying to deliver basic needs like food.

In all this, we remain encouraged by our undying faith that UGANDA WILL BE FREE. Museveni and his son will one day pay for all the crimes committed against the people of Uganda.

Kabwohe grounds, Sheema district has closed our seventh campaign week. We have been massively received despite multiple demobilization attempts by the regime police. They deployed their gunmen into our crowds to unleash terror but the masses were steadfast. We are deeply grateful to our people of Sheema. Mwebare munonga.

We have concluded Alebtong and Otuke districts after a full day of driving through impassable submerged rural roads. It is a shame that the regime which has been at the helm of the country for four decades has failed to deliver on its obligations. This is what we have come to rectify and offer the country a government that shall prioritize the needs of the people.
