The Bulgarian Comparative Education Society (BCES) was founded in Sofia in October 1991. BCES is registered as a non-profit, non-governmental organization.
After inspiring days of scholarly discussions at the BCES Conference in Sofia, Bulgaria, two wonderful South African colleagues, Mrs. Elmaré Mong and Mrs. Tarien Breytenbach-Greyling, reached the majestic peaks of Rila Mountain. Well done, ladies!
Some achievements speak before the event even begins.

I am incredibly proud to share that Volume 24 of the BCES Conference Books (2026) is now published—both online and in print.
See you at the 24th BCES Conference in Sofia, 7–10 July 2026.

Because of the confusion around the word 'architecture' (people think buildings), I'm renaming my online seminar to “Comparative School Structures”. The previous main title, “Architectures for Life,” sounded beautiful. But too many people asked me, "So… school buildings?"
I'm pleased to announce that I will be delivering an online seminar entitled "Architectures for Life: How Structures Shape School Ecosystems."
If your institutions are interested in hosting this seminar, please reach out for details.
