Why is pride considered such a serious sin in the Bible?
Because pride convinces us that we don’t need God.
At the heart of pride is the belief that we know better, can do it on our own, or deserve more than we actually do.
It’s the reason Satan fell. It’s what led Adam and Eve to distrust God in the garden.
The scary thing about pride is that it can hide behind good things. Success. Knowledge. Even religion.
That’s why God values humility so much.
A proud heart says, “I can handle this myself.”
A humble heart says, “God, I need You.”
“Communism is the enemy of free people everywhere. It is the enemy of the Constitution. Above all, it is the enemy of July 4, 1776.” - President Donald J. Trump
“God won’t judge me. He knows my heart.”
Exactly.
And that’s why He will judge.
The Bible repeatedly says God sees and judges the heart. Knowing your heart isn’t an excuse, it’s the reason repentance matters.
