While at my favorite lumber yard, this bad boy slab caught me eyes... 1st pic $6700😳 bottom rt has the price,fancy smancy.... this place has lots of exotic woods which always gets my wheels spinning... I bought the half off figured maple instead☺️

@JackieM_at_home I recycle often, one mans trash is another ones treasure, as the saying goes😝 rescued 25 or so pallets from heading to the dump, just as I got all these mirrors. A great score for me all n all. I break pallets down in just over 2mins time, so it’s quite nice

@JackieM_at_home One of our old big retail stores closed up recently, while scanning around I noticed they had tons of mirrors on pillars. Offered em $ and day walked out with 12 thick frameless mirrors. So I’ve been doing these up when I’m bored with other stuff. Homemade green/blue copper stain

@JackieM_at_home Yeah it has sucked but if I don’t over do it, my pains have been somewhat dormant. I still dabble in the work, just not the crazy hrs and I pick what work I wanna take...Knew my body wasn’t gonna last forever, and now I’m still doing what I love to do, I love creating stuff

@JackieM_at_home It’s sad that the tree came that, but I know they are into forest conservation and that was probably from a fallen tree. It won’t go to waste and that tree will live on thru whatever piece it becomes. It’s a beautiful wood that bubinga, amazing stuff. Here’s one used as a table

@JackieM_at_home I wanna say they’re huge trees, they import the most of the slabs when it comes to these type of exotic. They carry maples cherry and walnut too but this was their largest and most expensive. Slabs run from $500 to this gem of $6700. That might’ve been 5 foot wide

@JackieM_at_home Well I was a union carpenter until I blew out my ulnar nerve a few yrs ago. Still do carpentry on the side,but my arm can’t do the crazy hrs of my old gig...had to sorta reinvent myself over the past few yrs,now I make stuff to sell,whether special orders or just me 🥁 stuff up

@JackieM_at_home And I make all sorts of stuff outta wood, but usually I use reclaimed. So when I enter this place it turns me into a kid at the candy shop😊 that slab was every bit of 4 1/2 feet wide by 14 ft tall
