@Bubbysnaxx@NBATopShot@roham NBA tried to do IRL promotions during one all-star week. They even had Dwyane Wade involved! The issue is he could not have cared less, and didn’t even identify the product correctly (he called it CoinBase)
@wazgd227@kenny_kellan7@NBATopShot Sadly, my first impression was that those packs looked loaded given all the TSDs and Rares. But was reminded that pretty much everything is bottoming out except for very desirable moments from a handful of players.
@kenny_kellan7 does anyone still do EV calcs on drops?
@Th3Badlands Yo, CryptoSlam. This is what it shows for me for Unique Buyers
March 2026 5,782
March 2025 15,153
March 2024 8,446
March 2023 10,856
March 2022 74,552
March 2021 408,388
Is that not right?
@DrEWal5 15,153 unique buyers last March.
5,782 unique buyers in March this year.
It’s the worst March both in terms of unique buyers, and sales volume, that the platform has had since its creation.
I have never been profit-driven, but I am not indifferent to value. Part of collecting is the pride of owning something valued by others.
Top Shot has failed to attract other collectors.
It is not a collectibles market.
It is a speculative market in the process unwinding.
@DrEWal5 I’m not a scorned collector. I didn’t lose a lot off the bat. I bought little by little, & lost a little, day by day, over the course of ~5 years
I understand risk. No bitterness or bias. Just my candid thoughts as it continues trending towards 0.
@TopShotYoda@DrEWal5 Correct.
I never cared about the floor in the sense of “making money,” and my $40-$50k, or whatever it is I ultimately put in, is gone. Fine.
But price is a signal of ecosystem health. A healthy collectible ecosystem has layers of demand. Top Shot still does not.
@DrEWal5 I bought Wade’s rare Debut for $2,400. I sold it into the high offer 9 months ago for $57. The high offer now is $26. There’s still a ways to fall.
@Wookzilla It was a speculative market from its inception, just a flip-for-profit platform for early crypto adopters.
Many of those flippers left, but they took the liquidity with them, and Top Shot has been unable to replace them with actual collectors.
I have 0 confidence in the floor
