It can be. But new routes would allow a family of 4 to come here for a week for around £1500. That’s a good price for a holiday. Prices are high for many reasons in hospitality but can be work done on that too.

Visit Jersey is an entity brought in to have a board level decision making group. But like I said, they cannot stop hoteliers who decide to retire on the fact they’ve got a site worth bulldozing too the ground.

She has her hands tied with a lot of it. She would like more and will do more - she’s brilliant. She cannot stop a hotelier selling his hotel at 4 times what he makes cause Dandara want to make 62 1 bed flats !

There is so much good work done by visit Jersey - they are great - but we need more.

We don’t have the bed supply to manage now. If that’s the case, what’s the future hold.

Can we have a Segway on the front? Can we bring in places like war tunnels to do more? There’s many, many things but...

Make them see that they are custodians of the Crown Jewels. I would put some protection in to stop development of viable business. I’d invite outside chain hotels to build on existing sites that are deemed too damaged to stay.

You need to involve hoteliers, you need to involve the public and you need to involve outside investors. Jersey needs a second and third prong to its fork, a vibrant tourist industry isn’t a thing of the past, it’s a possibility for the future.
