Retail is dead? No. It’s only dead in downtown SF where CAR FREE is. Serramonte & Stones are packed. As locals, it’s sad that we can’t shop locally bc of crazy SF policies that’r anti-car anti-families anti-biz & pro criminals, closed/slowed street gangs, bike/transit/walkSF nuts
Jagalchi, a massive 75,000-square-foot grocery store named after the largest seafood market in Korea, opened its doors in Daly City’s Serramonte Center last Friday, nearly a year after first announcing plans to take up the vacant space inside JCPenney.
Mmhmm. Like Wiener’s boss of 9 yrs appointed to lead SFPUC by Breed, then defunding the fire hydrant infra the city voted for to misappropriate the funds for potable water pipes for housing. Putting 2/3 of SF at risk of burning down in a post-earthquake fire.
Connie, Mar, and Peskin pushed back on that. No one else did.
That same PUC Dennis Herrera got that job after being City Attorney where he fired one of his employees for investigating millions of dollars in fraud with the city’s sewage contract. Employee sued him + the city and won with the settlement. Then Breed awarded him with a promotion making half a million a year.
Sherrill a Republican. Alan Wong is a progressive turncoat for higher office… what’s the surprise?! The machine can cover up everything including all the upzoning.
Scott Wiener's results on housing:
❌SF median home price doubled
❌CA homelessness at all-time high
❌SF built fewer homes / year than when Scott started
❌CA housing supply gap unchanged at 3 million units
❌Share of Californians who can buy a home decreased by a third
"As temperatures rise, shade should be recognized as essential infrastructure, something that should be treated similarly to power lines or sewers"
In SF, anyone can appeal a new housing development just because it will cast a shadow as part of an environmental appeal. The irony of this is that in a warming world, shade should be considered an amenity, not a nuisance.
In fact, the neighborhoods that are historically redlined are those with the highest land surface temperatures.
So when NIMBYs block housing, they are not just hurting the ability of San Franciscans to continue to live here (over 2000 units of housing have been delayed or blocked in SF over the last 10 years, due to "shade") - they are directly harming climate mitigation efforts as well.
It's time for our housing development to adapt to our changing climate. That's why I've introduced the SHADE Act - which will eliminate the ability for NIMBYs to use shade as an argument for blocking housing in San Francisco.
Because it's time to admit, that shade is good.
Thank you Allison Arieff for the thoughtful op-ed in today's @sfchronicle@sfc_opinions

Meanwhile, during the Hayes Street closure…
On Grove Street: Traffic is blocked for multiple blocks.
On the 400 block of Hayes: A handful of people sit in an otherwise empty closed street.
A major business corridor shut down every weekend… for this.
Peak absurdity.

Peak San Francisco planning 😂
Closed 400 block of Hayes = basically empty.
All the streets around it = total gridlock.
But sure, tell us again how this closure is working great.

Not sure about Alan Wong’s sincerity on reopening the Great Highway - he just made Lucas Lux throw a bone at NG to take pressure off proving that he doesn’t really want to @openthegreathwy. Shame!

I'm happy to support @MHurabiell for Congress in San Francisco. We need solid moderate leadership in Washington DC. Moving hard left isn't going to help. It's only going to deepen the divide. @marie4sf
