None of us is untouched by the challenges of the world around us.
We live in a time of conflict, displacement, uncertainty, and division. In such a world, my mind often returns to one of the simplest and most powerful teachings of Jesus Christ:
“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God” (Matthew 5:9).
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released the first episode of “Dedicate,” a new video series created as part of the global Salt Lake Temple Celebration, on October 4, 2026. Church leaders, series participants, young adults and invited guests gathered the following day for a premiere screening at the Legacy Theater on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The Lord knows that we are not perfect. When we enter His holy temple to serve Him, we do not enter as flawless disciples. We come as willing disciples. We come with grateful hearts, striving to follow the Savior’s path one step at a time.
Yesterday evening, I enjoyed spending time with several enthusiastic young disciples of Jesus Christ at the premiere showing of Episode 1 of the Dedicate video series. It is now available on the Temple Square home page. As you will see in the inspiring stories in this series, each person is walking a unique path of discipleship.
And yet, no matter where we are on that path, the Lord is near. He does not wait for us at the finish line. He walks beside us. He cheers us on. He does not ask us to be perfect today. He asks us to come unto Him and be willing to follow Him as we choose to be perfected in Him.
His holy house is one of the sacred places where His light shines brightly, allowing us to see the next step and feel His power lifting us up and moving us forward. My friends, isn’t this enough reason for us to rejoice in Christ every day?
As your president, I pray for what our Heavenly Father wants for each of us—to be active members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, proceeding forward on the covenant path into the eternities. We need one another’s prayers. I feel the positive effect of your prayers. I am thankful, and I love you.
"What a blessing it is to live in a time when apostles and prophets are on the earth."

Putting money or something of value at risk to bet on a particular outcome or event is an activity that has plagued mankind almost, I suppose, from the beginning of time.
And time has not made it any more worthwhile or any less harmful. Unfortunately, in recent years, gambling has become incredibly pervasive.

"Gambling is morally wrong. Gambling is built on the desire to obtain something for nothing. Its structure requires that any gain comes at other's expense. It is hard to reconcile that with the commandment to love our neighbor as ourselves."

Bishop Keith McMullin, former CEO of Deseret Management Corp. and leader in the Church of Jesus Christ's Presiding Bishopric, has died. Friends and colleagues remember him as a devoted mentor with unwavering kindness and wisdom.
The house of God is a place of prayer and faith, but it is also a place of learning. In temples, people learn about their relationship with God as their Heavenly Father, that loved ones can be united eternally, and that because of Jesus Christ, we can become better each day.
