Earlier today, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester attended the Far East Prisoners of War VJ Day 80th Anniversary Service at Norwich Cathedral. 

Later in Suffolk, Their Royal Highnesses also joined a commemorative service dedicated to the Children and Families of the Far East Prisoners of War.

Today, on the 80th anniversary of VJ Day, we remember the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of all who served. Today we especially think of those British and Commonwealth troops who fought in the Asia-Pacific.

Ahead of Her Royal Highness’s 75th birthday tomorrow, a new picture of The Princess Royal has been released by Buckingham Palace.

The image was taken last month at Gatcombe Park, the private residence of The Princess Royal. The photograph was taken by John Swannell.

Over 115,000 postboxes across the UK have recorded the succession of monarchs, starting with the first box that bore the cypher of Queen Victoria.

Today, in Great Cambourne, @RoyalMail has unveiled The King's cypher on the first postbox and has begun applying it to the doors of their vehicles.

At the Championships, the biggest equestrian event of its kind for disabled competitors, The Princess presented awards and met some of this year’s winners.

🤝 The King joined @IdrisElba and @PrincesTrust yesterday to discuss their ongoing work to support young people and address youth violence in the UK.

The King and Queen last visited Jersey in 2012, as The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee.

The late Queen visited the island in 2005, in celebration of the island’s 800 years of allegiance to the Crown.

Later today, Their Majesties will arrive in Jersey for a day of engagements, before travelling to Guernsey tomorrow.

The visit will highlight the special and historic relationship between the Channel Islands and the Royal Family, which stretches back centuries.

At Royal Square, Their Majesties joined a special sitting of the States Assembly, the island’s parliament comprising 49 elected members.

Addressing the Assembly, The King said:

"Jersey has one of the oldest connections to the Crown and we are delighted to be here once again to celebrate the special and close relationship which binds us together."
