Temperature wise it was a full on blizzard in the sierra madres. -80 or some such, but I was prepared so it wasn’t too bad. For soul crushing cold it was a thunderstorm and hail that left me in armpit deep water with chunks of ice floating around on the 3rd of July in Quantico , VA.

After I got MEDIVACed my wife went to the family support liaison to find out what hospital I was going to, next steps, etc. She responded that it was not her responsibility to help figure that out.

I was in the hospital two months and the same woman called my wife and asked her how she was doing with me being deployed. Zero awareness that I was in the hospital and had previously blown my wife off.

@plankers @EODHappyCaptain I was told that it was some kind of bombord, or in Infantry terms a siege cannon, so solid guess. They had pictures, something like 24 inches. Had a pointed front with an obvious, if relatively tiny, fuse on the front. I’m assuming it was muzzle loaded as it was pre US civil war.

Unambiguous fact: when the Polis no longer accepts that the Judiciary is an impartial an unbiased referee, then the inevitable outcome is that of tribal vigilanteism.

If one side feels that they can put their finger on the balance, then the other will feel comfortable cutting off their hand.

I was, in my opinion, a difficult LCpl, a somewhat overly enthusiastic Cpl, good Sgt, a good enough Squad and Platoon Sergeant.

I was, provably, an exceptional Special Duty Staff Sergeant. I dealt with particular technical, and classified, problems and was universally regarded as the SME. I would love to say I was best at the tactical edge, but I was actually a “Super Pogue” and did it very well. To be sure, I was better than competent as a trigger puller, but I was better on Staff. I never forgot that I was there to support the kids who were in direct contact.

Not everyone is competent to command at every level. I wasn’t.

Know your lane. Be appropriately humble.

Most people aren’t Patton.

@Comfymaxxing I had more vehicles on my military license than the 88Ms did. Additionally, the infantry guys had ZERO incidents in 4 years while the motor toads were acting like they were in competition for most rollovers.
