@gonglei89 Most parents don't know any better, and generally ambitious parents overestimate the aptitude of their kids. If they have the resources they almost always choose "top" (and suboptimal) teachers.

@gonglei89 I experienced this myself after working with foreign QA contractors, and spending weeks training them on a tool. But like our intern from a top school knew exactly what the tool did and how it worked from the introductory sentence. I couldnt grasp the theory of mind for the QA.

@gonglei89 I don't mean you don't pull up the teacher skill level. But like you genuinely shouldn't use Tsinghua PhDs for like average kids. It's like talking to an alien for the kids. But like e.g. you can use lower tier PhDs lmao.

@gonglei89 I think it's good to use PhDs for top students. These kids don't fit the normal IQ curve, it's suboptimal to use a normal teacher. They need to be roughly the same frequency and a stem PhD from a top school is a good enough proxy aptitude test.
