The area of Kezi, Zimbabwe, boasts a rich catalogue of indigenous dishes that celebrate our heritage. These include:
Isimoni: Samp mixed with ground peanuts.
Umfushwa Wendumba: Dried black-eyed pea leaves enriched with peanut butter.
Isitshwala Senyawuthi: Pearl Millet—the true grain of strength.
Inkobe: A hearty combination of maize kernels, groundnuts, and roundnuts.
Umxhanxa: A summer favourite made of melon mixed with maize kernels.
Inopi/Isijeza: Melon mixed with sorghum powder or mealie-meal.
Unkankalu/Umpale: Sun-dried melon slices, preserved for the drier months.
Amasi Omcaba: Boiled sorghum mixed with fermented milk (Amasi).
These dishes represent the "Geography of the Soul"—food that connects us to the land and our ancestors.
