Land degradation due to soil erosion is one of the challenges some West Pokot communities are experiencing... This usually occurs when a prolonged drought is followed by heavy rainfall, all top fertile soil are washed away as seen in this picture on your way to Kacheliba..
El Nino warning
Weatherman warns Kenyans to brace for El Nino rains
Kimani: El Nino expected in October, November and December
Misiani: Seven Forks Dams are almost full to capacity
#CitizenFridayNight
Honoured to join Global Data Festival & Kenya Space Expo & Conference 2026 as a Panelist/Speaker. I’ll be speaking on Harnessing Data and Space Technologies for #ClimateAction and #DRR, role of #EO#satellitedata, #geospatial analytics in strengthening #EWS, #climateresilience
#Monsoon#ElNino
This Seems Concerning😟
The Australian Weather Agency (BOM) which was Earlier Indicating Positive IOD to form during #Monsoon2026 has Downgraded it's Outlook and is now indicating only Neutral Conditions throughout the Season😓
The Latest IOD Index Stands at -0.04c
If a +IOD Fails to Happen, the Monsoon could be left on Thin Air and would have to rely on its Own Dynamics to Power Itself and Counter the Negative Effects of an Evolving El Nino😢
Hoping for the Best🤞
This week, the Kenya Meteorological Service Authority (KMSA) with support from UNDP with other National Technical Working Group-TWG-AA (NDOC, KRCS, WFP, and other national partners), is supporting the co-development of the Kenya National Anticipatory Action #MEAL Framework.
The framework aims to strengthen Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning within Kenya’s Anticipatory Action Roadmap, helping shift from reactive disaster response to proactive, forecast-based action.
By establishing clear indicators, evidence generation, and learning processes, the framework will help measure the effectiveness, cost-efficiency, and impact of AA interventions — ultimately enhancing resilience, protecting livelihoods, and reducing disaster risks for vulnerable communities across Kenya.

Strengthening #AA Evidence Workshop focused on turning research into practice.
Key discussions covered cost efficiency, effectiveness & benefit analysis (EFA), practical guidance for AA evaluations, group exercises on calculating AA benefits, ...
Strengthening #AnticipatoryAction evidence in Nagarkot, Nepal 🇳🇵
Experts from Asia, Africa, Europe, North & South America are convening for a MEAL-AA Evidence Workshop—sharing practices, identifying gaps, and co-designing solutions to improve #AA implementation globally.
to strengthen resilience in water-scarce and climate-vulnerable environments. Most importantly research must be grounded in real community challenges and developed through collaboration.
On 22-4-2026, we had the opportunity to visit the Water Hub at the @UCT_news , where we experienced firsthand how research can be translated into practical solutions for real-world challenges.
During the visit of #CLAREProgramme, @FCDOGovUK
@PlanAdapt , @SouthSouthNorth (@IDRC_CRDI ), further highlighted the importance of integrated approaches, particularly the water–energy–food nexus. By connecting water treatment with agriculture and resource recovery, the #WaterHub shows how different systems can work together
Emphasis was placed on translating research into actionable outcomes that influence policy, practice, and community resilience, while fostering changes in perceptions, behaviours, and decision-making processes.
Climate Adaptation and Resilience (#CLARE) Capacity Strengthening (CS) Hub Researchers and Practitioners Seasonal School 2026, held in Cape Town, South Africa, April 2026. The Seasonal School was organised by the African Centre for Technology Studies (#ACTS) and PlanAdapt,
The training focused on enhancing the uptake and application of adaptation research by equipping participants with practical skills and strategies to develop impactful research pathways.
