@heresyfinancial Most retirees take out far more than they collect. It's always been that way. The first SS recipient, Ida May Fuller, paid a total of $24.75 in SS taxes during her working life. She collected $22,888.92 in benefits after retiring. That's almost 1000x what she paid.
