I was elected to the Texas House in 2021 after returning from the Trump Administration, where I served in a senior capacity.
Five years later, the Democrats wield more power in the House than they did then, and by every object metric of limited government conservatism, last session was an absolute disaster.
Despite gaslighting⊠the Texas House is NOT more conservative. Our "Republican" Speaker was elected by Democrats, the House Parlimentarian is still an Obama lawyer, the Speaker Pro Tem is still a radical Democrat, and James Talarico and Gene Wu are still in House leadership.
Property taxes have never been higher, and are going up!
The Texas government has never been bigger.
Spending has skyrocketed 42%, and has never been higher.
Government debt is at an all time high.
Texas now has a HIGHER debt-to-GDP ratio than CALIFORNIA.
Corporate welfare is on steroids.
Wind and solar are still subsidized.
Hollywood is getting billions of tax dollars.
There are more government agencies/commissions/bureaucracies/regulations than ever after last session.
The TEXAS GOVERNMENT is a top ten user of H-1Bs in Texas.
The new "Texas DOGE" has somehow managed to GROW government.
And Texans are less free.
This is not the fault of Democrats (there aren't enough Democrats in Austin to pass a birthday resolution on their own)... but of TxLege âRepublicans,â who gladly sell out their constituents for the popularity in the swamp that comes with colluding with Democrats to grow government.
As government grows, liberty diminishes.
Texans deserve the TRUTH about their government.
And the next generation of Texans deserve elected officials who will fight to protect their LIBERTY!
I will continue fighting against liberals (in both parties) in the pursuit of a more FREE and prosperous Texas.
Itâs an honor to be in this fight for freedom alongside so many patriots across this great state!!
Rural Texas is at a breaking point and we are begging for help before itâs too late.
On Friday I put out a post that has now reached more than 30k views ( https://t.co/tRtJeLW6yw), and one comment keeps echoing from lifelong Republicans who never imagined questioning their vote:
âRepublicans have held the majority for nearly 30 years and this all happened under their watch.â
That hits hard because itâs true. For decades, rural Texans have felt ignored, dismissed, and told âgrowth is coming and there is nothing you can do about it.â Weâve watched our land, our heritage, treated like a resource to be exploited rather than a way of life worth protecting.
The fear is real. The anger is building. Officials need to pay attention!
Wind turbines blink red all night, destroying the dark skies we love. Solar fields swallow up rolling green pastures that once fed cattle and families. Battery storage systems hum loudly and carry real safety risks. Now data centers are exploding across rural counties, massive industrial complexes that combine every nuisance and magnify it by what feels like a thousand times. They devour land, guzzle water and power, and bring noise, lights, and traffic that have no place in the quiet countryside we chose.
We didnât move to the city or suburbs. We want our peace, our quiet, our stars at night, our green fields, and our rural way of life. Weâre willing to give up high-speed internet or other conveniences if thatâs what it takes to keep what matters most. That might sound extreme to outsiders, but for those of us raised on this land, itâs the honest truth. This is our home, not a blank canvas for corporate profit or urban power demands.
The data makes it impossible to ignore: Texas has already lost nearly 3.7 million acres of working lands since 1997, with over 1.8 million gone in just the last five years of that period. Post-2022, the surge in solar, battery storage, and data centers has only accelerated the pressure in rural areas with hundreds of thousands more acres impacted through leasing, development, and infrastructure. This is happening under sustained Republican majorities. While there have been pro-ag protections, the dominant policies of economic incentives for big projects, limited local zoning in unincorporated areas, eminent domain for transmission lines, and a strong pro-growth/energy stance have fueled the encroachment.
Rural voices feel powerless. When candidates say âwait until session,â it feels like a betrayal. Session is after the election. People are losing faith and looking elsewhere because thereâs no clear stance or action right now, while these offices are already held. âWe need to hear more voicesâ doesnât land when rural opposition is overwhelming (often 70%+ in comments and polls). The Governor could call a special session or issue a moratorium today to pause these projects and truly listen. Why isnât that happening?
As someone who has proudly stood with the Republican Party, I am on my knees begging you: pay attention to this crisis. Getting comfortable or complacent after years of winning is dangerous. Lifelong supporters are hurting, feeling neglected, and starting to walk away. Rural Texas isnât against all progress, we just refuse to be sacrificed for it. Our land, our skies, our communities, and our childrenâs future are on the line.
If youâre rural and feeling this fear and anger, speak up loudly. If youâre a Republican leader or candidate, show us now (before the election) that you hear us and will fight for us. Words after the fact wonât be enough.
We love Texas. We love our rural life. Donât make us choose between our party and our home.
Rural Texans, share your stories below. What are you seeing in your county? What do you want leaders to do immediately?
