In a bid to secure their own share of the finite resource(s), battery and car companies are looking to invest in cobalt-copper mines.
Just last month CATL, a Chinese battery company, bought Kisanfu Mine in DRC for $137 million.
With the global resolve to decarbonize industry, the world's seen the demand for cobalt (basically a byproduct of copper mining) spike to all-time highs in recent times.
Cobalt is used in batteries.This makes it one of the most sought after minerals by electric car companies.
