Dear God! 💔 This pain is too much.

In just one week, we have watched innocent children leave home full of excitement for school trips, only for some of them never to return. Families have been left waiting for children who will never walk through their doors again.

First came the Mukono railway crossing tragedy, where one teacher lost their life and several pupils were injured.

Then the Amuria High School bus crash in Bugweri, involving 73 students on a geography study tour, where the driver died and 15 students and staff were injured.

Now, the devastating loss of 21 pupils from King David Junior School, Ndejje, whose lives were cut short while returning from an educational tour to Sipi Falls.

How many more little coffins must we see? How many more parents must identify the bodies of their own children? How many more dreams must be buried before we say enough is enough?

To the Ministry of Education and Sports (@Educ_SportsUg ), we beg you ,please don’t remain silent. Kindly pause these school tours until stronger safety measures are in place. No educational trip is worth a child’s life.

May God comfort every grieving family, heal those fighting for their lives and receive these innocent souls into His eternal peace.

Rest in peace, little angels. You deserved to come back home. 🕊️💔🇺🇬

Balinda’s Choice

Yesterday, I attended the launch of “Balinda’s Choice”, held in commemoration of World Vitiligo Day. It is a book about the search for healing, and ultimately, the choice to embrace oneself.

I first saw @BalindaMusti last year at the Echo Art Fashion Show. What struck me was not his vitiligo, but his poise. His confidence. The unmistakable dignity with which he carried himself. Little did I know the journey behind that posture.

Reading his book brought that moment full circle for me.

It reminded me that we don’t know what we don’t know. We see the person standing before us, but rarely the miles they have walked to get there. And even after reading his story, I know I can only imagine what it took for Balinda to arrive at a place of self-acceptance.

That is why I have become increasingly careful with phrases like, “Choose yourself.” They are well-intentioned, but they can sometimes sound as though self-acceptance is a switch to be flipped, a volume knob to be turned up, or a simple decision to be made.

It is not.

For many people, it is a long and often lonely journey. One marked by pain, questions, courage, and persistence.

That is why I celebrate Balinda, not only for choosing himself, but for choosing to tell his story. Stories like his make the road a little less lonely for someone else.

I also celebrate Muundo Foundation and @MartinSenkubuge for their commitment to changing the narrative around vitiligo and expanding access to opportunity. Thank you for educating us. Thank you for challenging our assumptions. Thank you for helping us see beyond the skin, to the person within.

Sometimes the greatest healing begins when we choose understanding over assumption.

The confirmation of an Ebola case in France linked to response work in the DRC is a reminder that strong surveillance, rapid reporting, and international cooperation save lives.

The health worker left the DRC without symptoms, met all travel requirements, and was diagnosed quickly after symptoms appeared. Public health systems worked as they should.

Africa CDC commends the rapid response of authorities in France and the DRC and calls on partners to continue supporting frontline teams, strengthening surveillance, and avoiding measures not based on science, including unnecessary travel and trade restrictions.

Stopping Ebola at its source remains the best way to protect communities everywhere.

For two months, Karamoja has known only heat and dry ground, but my flowers have been teaching me about God’s love.

Each morning, I rise to water the flowers and the paspalum. I chose to plant these flowers and paspalum simply for the love of it. Many people wondered why I would do that in a government facility.

But back to my flowers…
No matter how much I try, my efforts never quite seem to match their need. Still, I keep going, searching for little ways to help them survive. Every time I water them, I am reminded of the words of Jesus:

“See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these…”

And I pause.

These flowers do not worry about where their water will come from, even under the relentless sun. Yet, out of love, I find myself laboring for them every morning. They give me nothing in return. I simply delight in seeing them flourish in their beauty.

When termites began attacking the paspalum, I couldn’t sit still. I tried everything I could: spraying, sprinkling ashes, searching for any remedy because I could not bear to watch anything destroy them.

Each morning, as the sun rises, I pull back the curtains and look at them. That quiet moment fills my heart with unexplainable joy. I can tell, just by looking, that they need water. They don’t have to ask. I just know. I want them to grow, to thrive… but more than that, I think of the next doctor who will one day live in this house. I hope they will step outside, see this little garden, and feel joy. I hope they will understand the beauty of the words:
“Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor.” (John )

And then, I realize that this is how God loves me.
He created me simply to love me. To care for me. To provide for me. To protect me. It is as though He said, “I have so much love. I must share it. Let there be Gladys.”

He delights in taking care of me. He smiles when I walk in goodness. He rejoices when I receive the love He so freely gives. Our relationship is not transactional. I do not love Him so that He may reward me. I love because He first loved me.

I don’t do good works to earn God’s blessings. I do good works because I am already so richly blessed. I have received so much love that it overflows. I simply must give it.
And just as He loves me so deeply, so freely…
I, too, choose to love.

Sometimes when people say, “God bless you,” I smile, but deep inside I long to tell them something more:
“I am already blessed.” But I know that religion has not taught them that. Religion teaches people to labour for blessings. Grace has taught me to recognize it.

Next week, I meet up with the current mayor of Kampala and our discussions will focus on 4 major reasons why Cities exist and those are.

Will be my first time to meet him!

1- Search for economic opportunities and therefore, cities must first focus on how the city economy thrives.

The Bible says pray for the city in which you live, when it prospers, you also prosper and yes, if the city doesn’t prosper, you don’t prosper.

2- search for good education, cities generally speaking host the best educational institutions because when its economy improves, the need for better education grows.

3- Good health, because of prosperity of the city obviously the city hosts the best health facilities. Poor environment don’t host good health facilities.

Good health depends on 3 pillars, good housing, good education and good nutrition and all depend on a good economy. Reason no poor is amongst the top 20 health nations.

4- Security, cities with great wealth intend to have better secure environments generally speaking. Wealth nations tend to invest better for their security than the poor ones.

I will invite the Lord Mayor to kasese and see how RWENZORI MARATHON is slowly transforming Kasese and see first hand what numbers of spenders mean for an economy.

The owner of TORONTO MARATHON has for example invited me for Toronto marathon and is going to organize a diner where the mayor of Toronto will be and would be happy to go with our mayor and sees how mayors position cities.

We shall discuss a marketing plan for Kampala city, would nice to hear Kenyans, Tanzanians, South Africans, Nigerians etc saying, we shall visit Kampala and spend our money there.

Places like Namungogo shouldn’t be places where activities happen only in the month of June. It should be attracting spenders throughout the year and we shall discuss how that works.

THIS THINKING SHOULD APPLY TO EVERY MAYOR AROUND THE COUNTRY AND YOU VOTERS MUST ENGAGE THEM.

1- World athletics federation is going to live stream @RwenzoriMarathn just like they do with LONDON MARATHON, NEW YORK MARATHON ETC.

Millions will watching Live from across the Globe. The world will watch Uganda!

2- BBC is coming to do a story on @RwenzoriMarathn 2026 for the radio and TV, crew is set to arrive a week before the marathon.

3 - We are finalizing a discussion with 2 Africa broadcasters and hopefully we agree on something this week.

4– @robwalkertv( ROB WALKER) has committed to commentating ( at no cost due to his love for UGANDA) along side MARTIN KEINO and our own @andrewkabuura.

5- We had agreed with DREAM TEAM TV( google them) who cover world majors( world top marathons) to do a 26 minutes which was going to reach between 500m to 1bn( not kidding) but how we handle info killed it and hopefully next year God willing.

They have work in the US first week of September and since we have been blacklist, they wouldn’t have the 21days required.

It was going to be Ugandas biggest move in PR. @robwalkertv had helped us achieve that. That’s how much @robwalkertv loves Uganda.
