In my first Drosophila study at @SalehLabParis , we found that:
1. Enteric viral infections accelerate aging.
2. Even if the infection is cleared, aging process remains triggered.
3. Accelerated aging correlates with reduced lifespan.

We're in the midst of a Computational revolution in biology, comparable to the Molecular revolution of the 70s. Baker, @demishassabis , and Jumper receiving the Nobel Prize not only recognizes their achievement, it's a coming of age for #bioinformatics. 🥳🎉
🎉 Congratulations to Cassandra Koh for receiving the ERC Starting Grant! Her project, MULTITUDES, will enhance our understanding of mosquito viromes and their role in arboviral disease ecology. 🦟🌍
Thanks @ERC_Research
YA GIRL IS GOING TO BE A PI!!! So stoked to continue my love for mosquito viruses. MULTITUDES will delve into the biology of mosquito-specific viruses and their impact on arbovirus transmission @institutpasteur . Will be recruiting very soon so watch this space 🦟🔬
Undescribably ecstatic and still in disbelief to be awarded an #ERCStG. Huge thanks to @ERC_Research and to many for their support in this journey: mentors past and present, grant readers, rehearsal panelists, work spouses, & real life spouse. Congrats to all awardees!
Very happy to have this one published in @Nature today!! 🤩🤩 Can we dig deeper into the intricate and ancient evolutionary history of the flaviviridae by comparing not only genetic sequence but also protein structure? answer is yes!!

Experimental evolution is a valuable tool for understanding how viruses change.
Our study presents the first experimental virus evolution in Caenorhabditis elegans, revealing crucial adaptation hotspots in the nucleotide diversity of the Orsay virus.

A little something I wrote about eukaryogenesis! I learned a lot doing research for this article!
Biology never ceases to amaze me 🧬
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did while writing it!

“That’s, like, wildly weird. The world is just full of new things. And once you start to look, you find them.”
