In 2022, my dad was reversing the car to take us to church.
He didn’t realize I had opened the door again… and the door got damaged.
I felt terrible that morning. He still took us to church with another car although I felt really bad.
Later that day, I deliberately slept around 6pm just so I wouldn’t have to face him when he got back 😂
When he returned around 8pm, he asked for me. They told him I was sleeping, which was unusual… so he told them to wake me up.
This man carried me on his lap and said, “The car you damaged belongs to your father, so it belongs to you, too. You shouldn’t feel bad. I’ll fix it tomorrow.”
That moment has stayed with me ever since.
My old friend called today, and we spoke about so many things, and he just kept laughing at me as I was telling him about my relationship story.
So I'm actually realising I chose someone who didn't choose me. 👏🏾👏🏾
We learn we learn.
I generally think car should come first for a young graduate doing corporate (9-5) work. Adds to the dignity.
But for less educated artisans, there is no harm if car does not come first.
This is because, at some point in your 9-5 career (if a decent one), you can own a house with less struggle. You are highly unlikely to afford a house in a decent place in your first few years by the way. So why sacrifice owning a car (which is much easier) for all that.
I'm super happy this post has different mixed reactions. And this post actually confirms why I don't talk to people in public.
Some of y'all assume everyone wants a romantic relationship.
Sometimes people just want to freaking make friends.
It shouldn't be too hard.
@TechnicalBben I think when you're meeting people and you want to save yourself the stress of being judged. Just define what you want with them.
example
"Oh, hi beautiful.
I saw you from over there, I simply like how composed and calm you are. I'm Steve, should we be friends?"
Thank you all for the birthday wishes, so you all have been pretending. You really love me😭
And Special amen to all of you praying for Manchester United to win the Premier League & Champions League for me.
I love you
It depends on so many factors: his job, ambition and location. If he’s ambitious, he doesn’t need to own a house at a young age. He can keep renting, because he’s likely to relocate. Buy the car and invest the remaining money in whatever generate that first money.
Kano casually fills stadium for NPFL games without anyone posting about it on social media (except journalists, occasionally).
Organic "anything" is always on another level.
We have women carrying the bulk of the family responsibility - I call them lionesses. We have children carrying the family through tough times - it was never their responsibility to begin with. We have immediate and extended family lifting the heavy loads. We have friends covering the shame of friends so the family never goes homeless or starve.
The whole point of relationship is that we commit ourselves to the wellbeing of those we love. While we are most thankful, we really must ask, who cares for those who cares for us? Who #caresforthecarer?
Now that I think of it, some things I experienced in that relationship were actually disgusting and disturbing.
Is this what you guys go through in a relationship?
Please choose people who choose you.
