Iβve been enjoying spotting all the little worker bumblebees out and about. Spring is a time when you can find some really small workers. This is because the Queens have to forage on their own, along with the small supply of food that is available to the queens.
Lots of #bees are starting to emerge, I spotted a female Hairy-footed flower bee, that some could get confused as a bumblebee but is actually a solitary bee. One fun characteristic of the Hairy-footed bee is how very quick and nippy they are when flying about. #wildlife#nature
The Early #bumblebee (Bombus pratorum) is a spring specialist, as its name suggests! πΈ Queens are one of our earliest bumblebees to emerge from hibernation every year, and males can be seen as early as April or May.
Have you noticed all the bumblebees crawling or flying low to the ground? New Queen bumblebees have started emerging and have been busy feeding up and now are looking for the prefect nesting spot. #bumblebee#wildlife#nature
What's all the buzz about? ππ Today we launched #BeeTheChange! πππ½
