I completely understand where you’re coming from, but for a lot of gamers physical discs are the only way they could afford to play games because they could get them secondhand. You can also give games to your younger siblings Which is a great way to introduce them to the games you were playing.
Most importantly though, as we saw from PlayStation this past week, if the media we buy is only digital, it can be taken away from us at a moment’s notice with no recourse. Imagine that, one day your entire library of games could be deleted overnight because technically you don’t own it.
To varying degrees all levels of Government are content with a worsening mass homelessness crisis. Stop ignoring organized homeless New Yorkers and their allies. The more we kick the can down the road, the more investments will be needed to solve the crisis. Rant over.
Grateful that many Council Members are continuing the fight for homeless New Yorkers. Our Homelessness Union leaders have fought this fight for 3 years. We need more ppl to question the unsustainability of keeping ppl warehoused with no pathways out of homelessness.
We're simultaneously fighting for housing that's actually affordable but isn't being built fast enough. Vacancies in supportive and public housing that aren't coming online as fast. We have a coalition that's called Homes Can't Wait b/c of the severity of the crisis.
With this budget, we have to invest in the support systems that keep our most vulnerable neighbors housed. CityFHEPS protects our most vulnerable residents and reduces strains on public systems. Investing in stable housing is an investment in a stronger New York for everyone.
Growing number of councilmembers (now not just progressives but also close menin allies) are calling for a CityFHEPS expansion in the budget this evening, with some saying they will not vote for a budget without it. Menin pulled out of a budget deal over fheps funding Friday.
Expanding FHEPS is a proven tool that will help us humanely and effectively house families. There are 100,000 children in the shelter system. That is not OK, let’s do everything in our power to address this crisis.
STATEMENT: The New York City Council Progressive Caucus issues the following statement in relation to the need to fund the critical tenant protection program CityFHEPS in the FY27 budget:
.@NYCProgressives stand united in our call to significantly expand funding for CityFHEPS. Thank you @SpeakerMenin for standing firmly with us.
Preventing homelessness is cheaper, smarter, and more humane than paying for shelter after families lose their homes.
Championing affordability means ensuring that every New York family can have a roof over their heads.
CityFHEPS is a lifeline for struggling New Yorkers; the City Council is steadfast in our commitment to not turn our backs on the New Yorkers who need our support the most.
We are clear: Expand CityFHEPS and drop the lawsuit!
❌ Money for an expensive shelter system
✅Getting families into permanent housing
I stand with @CMPiSanchez and the Homes Can’t Wait Coalition call to expand CityFHEPS. Let's get it done!
.@CMPiSanchez says she will vote against a budget that does not significantly expand housing vouchers. She is tying the issue to @NYCMayor’s plan to increase nypd headcount by 580.
The Mets were the sacrificial lamb offered in exchange for a Knicks championship and these electoral victories. I'm not even mad. NYC stays undefeated.
SOCIALISM WINS UPTOWN! Darializa Avila Chevalier will be the first Afro-Latina to represent NY-13. We can’t wait to see how @DarializaforNY fights to abolish ICE, end the genocide in Gaza, and fight for working class people every day.
