@BJP4Bengal, @ArjunsinghWB & @SuvenduWB's biggest and toughest job will be to transform Kolkata from the ground up and take it to the top.
The city's current image sometimes feels as if time has frozen since the 1960s—with aging infrastructure, neglected buildings and outdated systems. Decades of inadequate upgrading and maintenance have left their mark.
Look at the trams, for example. Kolkata still operates some of the oldest tram cars in the world. People love trams as part of the city's heritage, but outdated rolling stock makes them slow and less comfortable compared to modern urban transport.
Paris too underwent a massive transformation, particularly in the 19th century under Napoleon III and Haussmann. Today, we identify it with its distinctive architecture, urban planning and culture.
French and Bengali cultures share interesting similarities in their appreciation of art, literature, food and intellectual life. Kolkata has the cultural foundation to reinvent itself too.
We need to modernise the city without destroying its identity.
If we don't transform Kolkata, attracting businesses and investment will remain difficult. To much of the country and the world, Kolkata is still seen as a city stuck in its past—an old city that hasn't fully entered its next phase, unlike Mumbai, which has evolved like a mature entrepreneur at the peak of his career.
We don't have to kill the old "Calcutta."
We just have to transform it into a modern Kolkata—without losing what makes it Kolkata.

🏗️ Project: Integrated Semiconductor Manufacturing Unit
One of the most notable projects in the Haringhata allotment.
The proposed facility would add semiconductor manufacturing to the industrial mix at Haringhata.

The proposed corridors include 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗞𝗗𝗔𝗛𝗔–𝗕𝗢𝗡𝗚𝗔𝗢𝗡–𝗣𝗘𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗣𝗢𝗟𝗘, 𝗗𝗨𝗥𝗚𝗔𝗣𝗨𝗥–𝗕𝗔𝗡𝗞𝗨𝗥𝗔, 𝗣𝗨𝗥𝗨𝗟𝗜𝗔–𝗕𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗞𝗔𝗥, 𝗠𝗢𝗛𝗔𝗠𝗠𝗔𝗗 𝗕𝗔𝗭𝗔𝗥–𝗦𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗔–𝗞𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗜 and other important corridors.

⚠️ 𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗧: This remains a 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗣𝗢𝗦𝗔𝗟/𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗖𝗘𝗦𝗦, not a construction sanction for all 16 corridors.
Last year it was this night when Kolkata woke up to a horrific Cloud Burst. At 4AM, I was waist deep in waters with all escape routes closed. Now those who lived will never forget. It was hell of an experience.
Every single day we're adding 75k+ new vehicles to our roads.
Some major cities averaging 2k+ each day.
We aren't ready for whats coming in next 4-5 years!!
@IndianTrainFan@InfraAddaofWB Not possible. Those buses cannot be revived anymore. Replacement is the only way out. The grounded buses needs to be scrapped first, as most depots do not have more space to house newer buses.
