Sleep when the baby sleeps. Do laundry when the baby does laundry. Respond to emails when the baby responds to emails. Work out when the baby works out.
Recruiter reaching out on LinkedIn: I emailed you as well as reaching out here would you like to apply for the role
Me: I don't make my email public on LinkedIn, how did you get it?
Recruiter: I used a tool that scrapes email addresses that used to be public. Apply now?

I've wondered lately if there's a market for AWS tutoring (aka spooky cloud stuff). In the tech echo chamber, everyone already knows this stuff, but I keep finding evidence that no we don't!
Do I know know anyone seeking a couple of free tutoring sessions to validate this idea?
there is a certain selfishness that you need to have to carve out the time to work on yourself and your skills, and i am trying to say that you should give yourself permission to make that investment.
it's about putting your own oxygen mask on before turning to others.
Welp, I guess it's official: I'm leaving my job. I dealt with sexism and bullying, and found out that I, as the only female principal eng, was paid less than the other (male) principals outside of Atlanta. I would not recommend friends work at Mailchimp, especially women.
I’m been rationalizing models for tech leadership using a triumvirate (group of three holding power). Here’s where I am today:
PM: responsible for why; contributes to what
Eng Mgr: responsible for who/when; contributes to what
TL: responsible for how; contributes to what
A degree in CS will not make you a good software dev. A good dev consistently makes code that people like to use. All this other noise of going to the best schools, boot camps, or knowing so and so is a bunch of lies too. You want to be good? Put in the work and know you audience
@smackmiaround After everything gets sorted consider switching to Tangerine, I had an evening of derping where u locked my ATM card three times in the course of two hours and I was able to sort it out over the phone
@smackmiaround Sorry to hear you're experiencing this. I reached out to my former RBC colleagues and they think it should be resolvable over the phone, maybe try again?
D&I efforts make me uneasy. I like the goals, but there’s something about being considered lesser that makes me uncomfortable. You aren’t saving folks. You are returning stolen privilege. It’s appreciated, but isn’t charity. You aren’t doing good, you are righting wrongs.
OH, on technical interviews: “if I saw a live-ass engineer at my company hand-rolling a linked list I’d parachute right the fuck on in to figure out why they’ve gone all historical re-enactment on company time”
