Could be related to the 48A to 24A current reduction that happens in the Gen 3 wall connector. It mostly happens if it's over 90+ F outside and the handle is in direct sun. The wall connector seems to think the handle is overheating from an electrical issue, so it reduces the available current, but it's just heat from the sun. Or they could be reducing stock ahead of launching a new version.

I'm still missing CarPlay simply because the UI, navigation favorites, apps, etc., that are available stay consistent and configured to my preferences regardless of which car I’m in. With CarPlay everything is always with me on my phone so I don’t have to be in the car to plan an accurate route.

@itskyleconner @cityofaspen Also 30-60kW charging is proportionally about the same or even a lower C rate than most modern phones charge at. So for an EV-sized pack, it's not really even that "fast.”

I disagree; fast charging in my area is something like $0.58 per kWh plus a connection fee. And if you think of a situation where a family may only have one car which is shared between one person that works at night and another that works during the day. In that situation there may only be an hour or two during the whole day the car is able to be charged. Then it makes sense to have medium-speed home DC chargers as an option.

Does it at least wobble in sync with the dashed line on the road? My car wobbles in sync; basically, it's as if it is taking the line width out of the lane width, causing the lane center to shift. This results in the wobble on some roads with dashed lines, depending on speed, etc.

They optimize for the highest peak power when you first plug in the car vs. the best average charging power. It's better for marketing to be able to claim that big peak number as the charging speed. The overall charge would probably be faster in a lot of cases if the battery were not quite so warm when supercharging started, because it would take longer to thermal throttle the charge rate.

@TexasTSLA You can set the nav to stop nearby but not at the supercharger. It will skip the preconditioning because it doesn't know it's about to get charged. Not as convenient but it could save the computer. Anyway it's your computer to 🔥just want people to know they have the option.🙂

@JonBbC_TechGeek Here is some positive v14 lite news I haven't seen mentioned anywhere before. It seems to actually be surprisingly capable when it comes to off-road/grassy field-type driving. It's almost creepy how human-like it can be. Obviously a common use case for most people😆
