Derby Council have released these images of how the Market Place would look if it gets permission to demolish the Assembly Rooms - which even in the sunny rendering is a pathetic non-place. What a grotesque failure of imagination to prefer this to a revitalised Assembly Rooms.
@NGandbeyond Most probably. Bolsover Colliery very paternal and keen to contol their investment in manpower. Very ambitious too, went on to build mining villages at Creswell, Forest Town, Clipstone, Rainworth (Rufford) & Edwinstowe!
@NGandbeyond Nice touch of art nouveau. Think there is a similar church in West Bridgford by same architects. Brewill and Baily also designed new Bolsover model village.
Aiton & Co Offices, Derby (1931) by Norah Aiton and Betty Scott. Offices and factory buildings for Aiton & Co, producers of pipework for ships, designed by Aiton & Scott, one of the earliest architectural partnerships in Britain.
