Please welcome to the Brox, Liam Campbell! We're delighted to confirm Liam has signed for next season, having been at Gala Fairydean Rovers for 3 years. The 23-year-old defender has been around the club while recovering from an injury. Welcome to the Brox, Liam!
Guardiola on patience on the sideline:
"I understand players can make mistakes. Before, I was more angry... but I know they want to do well. After the action is done, it is gone. I cannot correct this. So why am I shouting about how they behaved?"
Great advice for all coaches!
Coaches starting out think it's all about qualifications when it's really about:
▪️Networking
▪️Research
▪️Developing methods
▪️Reflecting
▪️Adding value
▪️Creating a positive image
▪️Building relationships
▪️Continually evolving
It's what helps you stand out from the crowd!🙌
Help people fall in love with the process:
▪️Learning from mistakes
▪️Connecting with others
▪️Overcoming setbacks
▪️Progressing everyday
▪️Coping when you're feeling down
▪️Pushing limits
The destination is short lived. The journey teaches us so much & adds meaning to life!🙌
Individual Development Plans (IDP) are not:
❌Critera for assessment
❌Static
❌Created in isolation
However when used well they are:
✅Balance of needs & wants
✅Co-created
✅Lived not learnt
✅About whole person
IDPs are a vehicle for positive change, holistic, should live
Being an assistant coach can be great.
It frees up your attention as you aren't focused on timings, how exercises are working & balance of team.
It allows you to focus fully on individual development. Dipping in & out when needed & learning from another coach. Great outcomes!🙌
It's easy for coaches to focus on the best players & talk to the extroverts.
Coaches have a responsibility to develop & connect with all players, regardless of ability or personality.
Doing so raises the level & makes people feel involved. Everyone deserves care & attention!🙏
Coaching abroad teaches you:
▪️To respect other cultures
▪️To open your mind to different ideas
▪️To adapt & grow as a person
▪️The importance of learning 2+ languages
You can't go abroad & expect people to adapt to you. You're the one who needs to adapt if you want to succeed!
Don't judge a coach on:
▪Qualification👨🏻🎓❌
▪Club they work for🏟❌
▪Playing history⚽️❌
Judge them on:
▪Connection with players🤝🏻✅
▪Smiles on player's faces😁✅
▪What others say about them🗣✅
Everyone sings the praises of Tuchel & Klopp but they forget the coaches behind the scenes. They're key for:
▪️Match analysis
▪️Working with units & individuals
▪️Delivering sessions
▪️Sending info from the stands
They never get the limelight but they're a key part of the team!
